Hello.

I've been playing Cyberpunk 2077 on my PC, via GOG, for a little while now. I had just completed The Pickup main job, then progressed a bit further to my introduction to braindance mode. Up until then, there had been no serious technical problems.

But, during V’s very first foray into braindance (where he sees a store being robbed at gunpoint), the game itself suddenly “flatlined,” quitting soon after that braindance scene had started.

I restarted the game and went back into the same scene. Then, the braindance scene continued to play without incident until right around the end of that scene, when the game abruptly quit again.

I did notice that, during each incident, the dialogue/voices could not be heard from the characters for several lines before the game crashed. The background music and visuals seemed to be okay while the voices were absent...but then, a few seconds later, the whole game crashed.

One more thing to consider: Before my session yesterday, I had installed a few mods to the game via Nexus Mods Vortex. The game had never flatlined before that (though, as a player, I flatlined all the time, haha). I actually played the game with the mods installed without incident for at least an hour or so, through combat, talk with characters and general exploration. But, when I entered braindance mode, the game stopped.

So, what could be happening here? Are the mods causing the game to crash? Or is there just a really disruptive bug in the game that rears its head only around braindance scenes?

What has been your experience with the stability of this game while playing on PC both generally and during braindance scenes? What should I do at this point?

With the regard to crashes, I have found the game to be pretty much rock-solid ever since the 1.03 release patch and all the way up until the 1.6 patch. And I have played through the game 3 times, and am currently on my 4th playthrough, with around 600 hours in it total.

Cyberpunk 2077 has been pretty stable for me, at least until I started really modding the game. After that, it could crash randomly. And I do mean randomly, because I could just leave the game running in the background for around 40 minutes and it would still crash even when I'm literally not doing anything in it. So frequent saves has become the norm for me after this.

When the crashes did start for me it was basically already too late to start troubleshoot it, both because of the number of mods I had installed at that point, and typically install at once (and installing mods in batches is generally NOT the way random fan made mods should be installed). And it never crashed in any single place or from what I can tell any specific conditions.

I have installed all of my mods manually though. In addition to my personal preference of doing things like this manually to learn the install process, and general distaste for automated processes, there are multiple CP77 mods with a warning in the description that says using Vortex won't install them properly.

Thanks for your insightful reply, PaladinNO. I think maybe I should uninstall all the mods from the game. Then go back and reinstall one mod at a time, not through Vortex, but manually. Then play the game for a bit to see if there are any problems. Then manually install the next mod. Repeat... Maybe then I could pinpoint which mod may be causing problems.

I'm curious as to which specific mods you have been using for CP77.

Thanks again.

It's going to be quite the list...

All of them are from NexusMods, and some are for fun and some adds content. You'll have to look them up yourself.

Required mod frameworks to have all of them work:
- ArchiveXL
- CyberEngineTweaks (CET)
- Input Loader
- Mod Settings
- Native Settings UI
- RadioExt
- RED4ext
- RedScript
- TweakXL
- Virtual Atelier

Mods:
- AI Netrunners Enhanced
- Apartment Cats
- Appearance Menu Mod
- Chop Shops
- Cyber Vehicle Overhaul
- Cybergirls Ads
- Daemon Netrunning
- Edgerunners Radio
- Extended and Improved Headlights
- Hide Distant 2D Cars
- Improved Traffic
- In-World Navigation
- Judy Romanced Enhanced
- Kiroshi Optics Expanded
- Lamborghini Terzo Millennio
- Let There Be Flight
- Lifepath Bonuses and Gang-Corp Traits
- Make A Living - Courier
- Porsche custom paint jobs
- Rayfield Caliburn 450 MPH
- Real Vendor Names
- Remove Level requirements
- Remove Street Cred requirements
- Scrap Item To Get Crafting Recipe (don't bother if you're going Crafting - CET console recipies is better)
- Simple Untrack Quest
- Underwear removal extended
- Vehicle Spawner
- Virtual Car Dealer
- V's Edgerunners Mansion - Apartment DLC

It has been more than a little hassle setting everything up, but flying through Night City in a monster truck while listening to "Darude - Sandstorm" made it all worth it. <3

Or driving around in a Lamborghini with a naked Judy in the passenger seat. Can have Panam too. *cough, cough*.
Was actually an unexpected side-effect from a combination of several mods.
...Haven't added a Barry White custom radio channel yet. ^^

Great. I'll have to keep those mods in mind as I reinstall the game and slowly reassemble and add the mods.

Just a top tip to reduce board cluttering: please don't quote everything. You could have skipped repeating the entire mod list, and the thread would have been easier to read.

^ Like so. ;)
