The cops - Seriously????

What, in the vaguest of terms, did you all think that was even remotely a mediocre idea at best?
I started a new character with INT/hacking as my primary weapon.
Hacking doesn't work on cops. Even if they are attacking you. Game won't even give you the option .I've no choice but run or try to use weapons I'm not trained in.
The cops are definitely poorly implemented in the game.

- There's barely any cops in the world (despite Night City being full of gangs).
- For some reason, shooting passersby doesn't count as crime, only killing them does.
- When you commit a crime, the cops somehow know immediately and spawn right behind you (sometimes even from within shops).
- If you turn around at just the right time, you can even see them spawn right in front of you.
- Cop cars are just for show. They never pursue you in cars.
- Even on foot it's easy to get away from them, since they never chase you very far.
- You gain wanted levels too quickly. For each passerby or cop killed you gain 1 level. It only takes 4 kills to reach the highest wanted level, so fighting cops isn't worth it.
- You immediately lose wanted levels when you enter shops...
- Even if you kill all cops, you must leave the area to lose your wanted level, which you must do if you want to keep fighting them.
- Once you've killed all cops, and as long as you don't lose your wanted level, you can commit crimes unpunished.
I swear it seems like everytime I turn around, this game gets worse and worse.

Cops spawning must be a filler mechanic for something that either did not work or could not be agreed and then time ran out...

Nah. it is the same crap as in Witcher 3, except in that game it was easy not to notice guards spawning all over the place b/c of the city's layout and b/c it was easier to confront them since it was very possible to dodge melee weapon hits unlike the bullets. Btw, all this crap with cops is exact same crap as with guards in W3: teleporting, magically noticing the crimes, quitting on pursuing you if you hop on Roach and ride for a few seconds. I am surprised people noticed it since everyone (except me) seemed to enjoy guards in W3.

Maybe so, but at least they did not spawn on rooftops and right next to you? I'm not trying to defend anything, but this spawning out of thin air is so poor, that I can't believe it to be the original design choice.

It was also completely and utterly pointless to commit any random crimes in the Witcher 3. Well, other than stealing, maybe. Was there even any other crimes the player were able to commit other than directly attacking guards? You weren't ablet to attack civilians at all because Geralt woudn't do that. The game didn't need proper crime and punishment system because it was designed the way that the player isn't even supposed to antagonize the guards. It worked well in that game, but, like you said, if you tried to find fault in it, you could.

CP2077 is different since you can accidentally kill civvies, but the police (and Max Tac) is on your ass so fast that it's amazing there's any crime in CP2077 at all. Yet according to the game, over 7000 murders happen yearly in the city.

I understand CDPR maybe didn't want the CP2077 to be a scifi GTA, but the world simulation is so pathetic that even GTAIV handles it better. The game world misses so much side activity (like robberies, and that kind of money making activity) and proper world simulation (like a working metro/train/pubic transport, proper cops, civilian behaviour) that CP2077 is currently just a linear single-player game open world tacked on to it just because every game needs to be open world. They have so much to do that we'll see if they eventually will be able to turn CP2077 into something truly great.
Since all vehicles had the same , "driving on ice" effect, you sometimes just can't help running them over. Then, PooF!! 19 cops blip in.

Get rid of all the baby candy and stop appeasing the console crowd. Let the player decide who to shoot, who to run over, who to have a romantic encounter, or even what drugs the MC wishes to take. AND, For the sake of all that continue to play, PLEASE fix the cops.
It's literally a shrinking sphere of spawning cops over time on the player there's fiction in games but this is pure nonsense what happened to games like the original Mafia 2 where the cars license plate was flagged and only if you were reported the player was flagged wearing clothes and you could bribe the cops if caught no wielding your gun.

CP2077 stand near a cop after a while get shot in the back for what ?, whoever wrote these sequences of checks should be put in restraints sent back in a time machine to their younger self and have their younger self paid off to brutally beat and ultimately making their older self infertile.

For more apt punishments post bugs.

Its all bugged.
Police just teleport in, right in font of you out of thin air.
You can get police cars that have police in to chase you though, but you hardly see them around.

The law system is more of a shooting gallery right now, there is no persecution with cars, no way to surrender, get arrested, whatever you do, use to level up and collect stuff, just don´t die. Even that list of wanted bandits that Viktor´s upload to us is kind of a lazy way to start fast the "take everything", because it is a shoot and loot world.

I am waiting the future updates, not going to lie, already drop the game, the characters are cool, Keanu is fun/boring, some side missions are cool, but, the world is just a beautiful messy painting right now.

driving motocycles is cool, easy to go fast and survive the dumb cars.
The game mechanics are not so good. I do however, still enjoy the city and surrounding lands. There is amazing work done and some wonderful things to see. I think I have about 175 hours in the game and am getting some of the quests finally done. I can see where either many things were deleted, or left for the future. I hope it wasn't left to abandonment.

I've had some issues with things and at least 2 quests, but the police thingy... it's just horrible and a terrible concept. Hard to believe that made if even into a beta version.

I am not defending it: I thought it was stupid in Witcher and here with majority of NPCs having Lemming AI that would gladly throw themselves under your car or some random cop being triggered if you run in front of them it just exaggerated the issue so it is now not possible not to notice (speaking of Witcher 3 though, for whatever reason I always wanted to show the power of Igni to the priests of the Eternal Fire).

yeah this is BS!
There's no good reason you couldn't hack cops.

All in all they need to completely redo the cops!
