I could never settle down with the Witcher 3 because to play it properly you needed to play using one of those awful controller things. The whole game seem to be built around it.
Wouldn't it be nice if Cyberpunk was built with mouse and keyboard as the main form of control? A proper PC game with proper well thought out M&K controls rather than being a afterthought.
Hey mate, not sure what do you mean by "playing properly"? \
Played it all through with mouse and keyboard and never felt like controls were designed for controllers...
And never seen this topic being brought up in any discussions before.
Yeah it's not obvious until it's pointed out. Basically when it's a port built for controllers there is a separate key press for every action so you end up using a vast amount of keys plus mouse buttons to perform the basics.
When it is designed for the PC, one single key will be used for multiple actions depending on the situation.

I'm sure now that I have pointed it out you will be able to associated it with games that you have played in the past.

So let's say...
The Witcher 3 (port) - Overall key mapping 15 keys.
The Witcher 3 if designed for the PC could easily be as little as 6 keys.
I have tried Witcher 3 with PS3 controller and it sucks.

Playing with mouse & keyboard feels much natural. It's actually pretty rare to see a game on the PC which is much better setup for a controller.

Really? Nowadays I feel like almost all AAA games are optimized for controller to the point the keyboard+mouse experience really suffers from it. In the case of the Witcher series, this was already the case with the original game.

I think I understand youur point, but my conclusion on number of keys used is totally different hahah - the less keys are used in PC version, the more it looks like a console port.

The rationale is very simple - controllers have few keys, so the design HAS to be working with as little keys as possible, while the interface variability is achieved by mouse moves and submenus.

A perfect example are various "wheels" where you have to choose dialog options, or items/skills etc.
