Hi, I looking for some advice, right now in my computer I run this game (Cyberpunk 2077) with options in low/intermediate settings in graphics section, my PC have a i5 4th generation processor, 16gb of RAM, and a gtx 1080 graphic card, right now I want to change my mother board but I'm not sure about an offer from a store with the next items:

* GIGABYTE B460M AORUS ELITE
* Intel i7 10700f 4.80ghz 16mb
* DDR4 3200MHZ Kingston Hyperfury HX432C16FB3A/16

For now I don't want to change the graphic card, but I'll do it on july in this year, I was looking information about the mother board and I found it good comments but I really want other opinions about it, somebody can help me?

Switch to AMD cpu.
That'll lower costs and improve performance to start with.

Make sure the motherboard timing supports the max speed of the processor.... or else when all cores are goin, it'll be limited to the motherboards timing.
I made that mistake.

Actually here's some more:
For best experience get an SSD... but to get one of those you have to research what size ssd your motherboard can fit.
I'm using a fast HDD and buildings load in fast, but people and cars sometimes take a few seconds.

Your graphics card is fine.
Just make sure you are playing on High (no raytracing)
It still looks great on these settings; this is what I use.... only 'slow' part of my computer is the HDD.

that is a microATX board. if you are building in a regular mid or full ATX chassis, i would go with an ATX or E-ATX size board.

and do not listen to ast486. switching to AMD does not guarantee any lower cost or improved performance.

SSD, yes. Or M.2. That motherboard supports 2x M.2 drives, so he could get two of those and set up a RAID 1. That would bring also security. If one breaks, you don't lose any data. You can also do RAID 1 with 2x SSD drives if you want. Large SSDs are cheaper than fast and large M.2 drives, so if you want to cut some corners, SSD might be cheaper.

But AMD is not really that much cheaper. And it is not that much faster. Sure, the new Zen 3 CPUs are slightly faster than Intel's 10th gen CPUs. But in the end it's more of a matter of taste.

I don't know what video card OP is planning on upgrading to. Keeping the GTX 1080 until later is a good idea. That card will suffice for quite many games. However, ray tracing games are getting more common and they look really nice. If it is something like RTX 3090 you want to upgrade to, just remember that RTX 3090 is an absolute beast. Think of the biggest video card you have ever seen. It's bigger than that. You want to have a chassis that can hold it. The length is 336 mm. When choosing a chassis, remember to read what is the max length of the video card it can take. I would also get a bigger motherboard to make sure you have more space for all the things you need to plug in. Sure, the card itself probably fits there but you will have trouble with fitting all the different cables and such. It'll cover half of this motherboard. Fractal Design makes pretty good cases and there are bigger ones available where you can for sure fit a 3090.

Hi, thanks for the answer, right now my pc have a H81M-H mother board, the specs of the mother board show me the nex information: Form Factor Micro ATX Form Factor; 22.6cm x 17cm.

I guess the Gigabyte B460M is fine for my chasis, fits very well, but I'll check this just in case. :) I've the same issue with my computer, not all the time but mostly for the people on the street the textures charge is slow.

I going the check more information about Ryzen as alternative, will be interesting until now the processor i7 10700f have lower consume of energy about 65w vs the Ryzen that shows in some pages over 100w, but in the comparatives shows better results in others topics like speed processing, less bottlenecks against the i7 10700f.

What are you talking about? You don't know that processor but Ryzens are faster? That processor is Intel's 10th generation processor and they are faster than all Ryzens before them. The new generation (Zen 3) managed to be tiny bit faster. They use about the same when it comes to power. Of course it varies between processors, but they are similar.

If you like AMD, buy AMD. If you like Intel, buy Intel. There's not that big of a difference. Do you know what RAID is?

If you want to be sure that in case of hardware failure your data is safe, then you most definitely would need RAID. If you are not worried about losing your data, then you don't.

The last year I bought a Qnap with 2 disk of 4tb each one and applied a basic raid, very useful by the way for backup my data, also added one external disk of 1tb for other archives.

You really don't have a clue what you are talking about.
the Ryzens have ALWAYS been faster then comparable intels except in single core only performance.
They did this by taking a HUGE amount of power and putting out a lot of heat!

In multi core performance, every generation of ryzen has left a comparable intel cpu in the dust.

AMD cpus also have more cores then the comparable intels... making the actual price per core even more expensive for intel ones.

There is a huge difference; you just have to a couple hours research to see that.

Guys, Chill. The Intel i7-10700f is a capable CPU that will run ALL current games at high FPS with the appropriate GPU. If he can get a 10700f (8c/16t) for less than about 300 $, that's a great deal.

It is true that the Ryzen 5000 CPUs are moderately faster, but they are substantially more expensive and hardly even available. A comparable Ryzen 3000 series, the 3700X will be about equal in performance to the 10700f, though the Ryzen 3000 do have higher latency because of the chiplet design.

So mostly it comes down to what's available, and what prices are like locally. Another factor is, if he already has a motherboard, or if not, how motherboard prices are locally.

If you wanna compare CPU performance in games, check out some Youtube channels like Gamer's Nexus, they have many benchmarks and detailed explanations.

If you go with Intel, the motherboard chipsets below Z490 have limitations on what memory speeds they allow, tho in practical applications, memory speeds above 3200 MHz are pointless anyway.

I've just upgraded from a xeon W3690 to a 10700F and I haven't seen any major performance improvements despite the CPU being massively quicker. I'd say investing in a better GPU for this game would see better improements. Still, i'm playing on a 1070 at medium/high settings and it's playable enough for me.

By chance have you tried just setting your video settings higher? My cpu+gpu+ram combo didn't recommend a higher setting but I set it anyway and it runs at a decent speed.


EDIT I have a Ryzen 5 1600, AMD RX590, 16gb ram. The game seems to run great on high settings.

From comparing my system to yours, my stuff is a little better, but it still might run at a higher graphics setting then you're thinking.

Using a 10700k that I got super cheep and paired it up with an Asus Rog Strix Z490-H Gaming, and it has been excellent so far. ... GPU I upgraded to a RTX 3070 EVGA Ultra FTW 3. As mentioned SSD are just to good not to have especially with games like Cyberpunk.

He has 4th gen i5. Investing into a better GPU alone won't help too much. This processor will be a bottle neck if he upgrades to basically any RTX 3000 series card.

I think OP is going in the correct direction with upgrading the CPU and RAM and then getting a better GPU later on. The GTX 1080 will be ok (not great -- ok) until he upgrades and since currently RTX 3000 series is difficult to get your hands on, now is a good time to upgrade the other parts you can upgrade.

You can buy any motherboard. Because you are a gammer so you should buy a motherboard which you can upgrade easily in future. like you can upgrade your RAM or Storage or processor. I will suggest you to buy HP 875552-001
