The option in dialogues to skip it doesn't appear anymore. Used to be C. I remapped it so i don't accidently get stuck
crouched by tapping C (i later discovered the skipping option in the menu).
After the remapping it, that didn't work ingame. I switched it back to C but it wont work ingame anymore.
The prompt isn't showing anymore. I repaired the game files. Haven't tried reinstalling though.
Does anyone else encounter that problem?

Edit: overlooked the checkbox to mark this as a question. sorry about that :-/

Hmm, not sure if repair replaced the original file completely then.

I know it's a jungle in three different files in total with keybinds. inputContexts.xml and iputUserMappings.xml in Cuberpunk 2077/r6/config and then potentially UserSettings.json in Users/(Windows user name)/AppData/Local/CD Projekt Red/Cyberpunk 2077

See if these appear to be original? This mod on Nexus provides the original files: https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/30

Scroll down in the files tab to Miscellaneous and find the Vanilla .XML files option.

Hope this helps.

So i have the exact same issue but i never even touched the mappings. This fix sadly didn't work for me, maybe you have any ideas?

EDIT: NEVERMIND i was trying and retrying the same mission for a few hours now and got frustrated that i cant skip the dialogue. Turns out it works fine in other missions, apperently there are side quests where you cant skip dialogue. For whatever reason. Im in the Final boxing fight btw. Just hopped back into the main quest and it works fine.

Hello. I lost the option to skip dialogue at the start of Queen of the Highway quest with Panam. I waited until the quest was over hoping the option to skip would return, but it has not. I tested by making a call, and talking with an NPC, still no luck. I uninstalled from Steam and re-installed as well. Checked the key binds, tried remapping, and stitched from skipping by line to the other option. I can not find any solves for this. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I do not want to continue without that option. Thanks!

Also, I have a 2nd character / game going as well- that one works fine, but I'm still in ACT 1 on that character.

I wanted to chime in and mention that this has happened to me, but only on ONE of my save files. Other save files with different characters (or new save files) seem to work fine, but my main character appears to have lost the ability to skip any dialogue, the key press option never comes up and holding or hammering skip (depending on setting) does nothing anymore.

This is annoying as this 'main' character is a second playthrough where I've tried my best to 100% the game, so it's got a LOT of hours invested.

I've done all the things suggested by others and like @thevalar007, I'm at a loss.

I suspect there's a glitch or bug related to dodging (I'm on PC using a controller), because I loaded and re-loaded a boxing match to try and win, which involved a lot of dodging (and inadvertent crouching, yay good control design) and slamming the skip dialogue button, and ever since then, I can't skip any conversation.

Reached out to CDPR support but based on how the launch went, I don't expect them to be able to get around to me for a loooooong time...
Unfortunately I have the same issue for the past 2 or 3 days now (about 10h of playtime). Initially I thought it's the side quest as not all of them have an option to skip but I've been doing a very long main quest now and had no option to skip dialogue. I tried remapping, replacing xml, repairing etc but no joy.

As much as I appreciate the voice acting and amount of work that went into it to increase immersion, I play with subtitles and read faster than they speak so I really don't have patience to wait for dialogue especially given how little time I have to play in general.

Please let us know if CDPR come back to you. I will open a ticket too and would suggest everyone to do the same. The bug fix priority depends, among others, on the number of users affected.

Thanks!

Hello. I'm legit happy to know this worked, however I'm too keen on how to manipulate or fix the files. I did manage to download the vanilla files mentioned and replace them with the ones on my hard drive (inputContexts.xml and iputUserMappings.xml), but the issue still persists. Any tips would be greatly appreciated whenever possible, until then, Merry Christmas and happy holidays. Thank you.

Will update if I hear back. Until then I guess I just sit through dialogue I've heard a few times...

Hope you hear back soon. Got 60+ hours in the game and have now run into the bug. Tried all suggestions but no such luck :(
Still haven't heard back but weirdly, the issue *seems* to be resolved? Maybe something with the latest update fixed it?

The other thing I noticed; if there's ever a conversation happening during driving or an on-rails section, you won't be able to skip it, regardless, because any automatic vehicle sections are pre-determined and cannot be sped up or down, or they'd hit things/be places they aren't meant to be (once the conversation portion is 'over' you can 'skip ride').

SO for example (no spoilers) there's a section in the game where you have to ride with someone out to the badlands and help them for the main story, and the entire ride none of the dialogue can be skipped, nor can you 'skip ride' because certain parts of the mission are pre-scripted, and there's no ability for the game to handle speeding that up or down.

It could be a combination of things, as well as full on bugginess (truly at this point, who knows) but the game is extremely inconsistent with when you can and can't skip things. It gives the impression that all conversations can be sped up, but depending on context, that's not true.

Perhaps I'd just hit a few quests in a row that did not allow me to skip and I thought it was broken? Maybe they fixed it? It's just frustrating in the extreme not to know whether it's a genuine bug, or just the sloppy state of things in general.

Kinda sums up the whole game, lol.
I had this bug for around 20-30 hours of game time and I just got rid of it.
I have some vague idea of what might be wrong.

I did all the Evelyn and Panam quests then I've stoped doing main story quests and got left with Gimme Danger - the part where you need to talk to Takemura near to stalls. And I remember runing past him - triggering his dialogue but I never did follow up on his quest. Once I was done with all the side quests I could do I came back to Gimme Danger quest. Once I've progressed a bit and got to talk to Takemura near food stand the Skip Dialogue option was back.

So either this is related to triggering some quest and not doing it. Or i just got lucky. Maybe it will help someone with similar problems.

This! I logged on just to reply this is the same reason i could not skip dialogue anymore. I stopped the main story to clear every side gig and spot on the map and i ran past him aswell for a side gig and he started talking to me, but i just kept on running.

After returning to him and started talking to him, the skip dialogue came back while i was talking to him. I think the game gets stuck in his conversation and does not allow you to skip any other conversation caus your option is locked with him.

Some dialogues are skippable, others are not. If this doesn't help, maybe skipping was removed in 1.06, because it could rarely cause softlocks.

Wow, I can't believe this solved my issue!

Brilliant, thanks!
