There is too much muddled and missing info on monowires. So I don't even know the basics.

What kind of weapon are they, blunt or blade?

Do they get the bonus from engineer charge buffs?

The Monowire is a Blade weapon (it used to be Blunt). I haven't used it much (I always default to Gorilla Arms + a regular blade), so I don't know all the quirks of it.

There are some good guides out there that are way more detailed than wah the game offer though.

Watch the battery though (Black Market battery is the best). Once it's drained from prolonged use, the Monowire deals almost no damage.
