:) So it's gonna be a gestation? 9 Months, or am I wrong?

zgrillo2004: I try not to get into hype. look at No Man's sky

Zed-Avatar: Look at Breath of the Wild.
Look at World of Warcraft.
Look at Halo 2.
Look at Grand Theft Auto 5.
Look at Bioshock.
Look at Metroid Prime.
Look at Bloodborne.
Look at Mass Effect 2.

Sure, I suppose you could dwell on failure and allow that to determine your outlook, and that is your prerogative.
Look at the first trailer for Cyberpunk 2077.
Then compare it to the latest.

Yeah, yeah I'm slightly hyped for Cyberpunk 2077.
But I haven't pre-ordered it yet and I doubt I will. Because the game already disappointed me.
It traded the idea of being a police ( specifically Psycho Squad ) for being a thug instead.

It's been in development for a long long time and then when they first revealed it, it looked like something that had more in common with Chappie ( good movie but seriously ) and I instantly hated everything Is aw from that trailer. It was only the live showing of the intended 50 min long gameplay that changed my mind and had me more in a wishful state. But guess what, I am still highly skeptical of this title. For all we know, it'll just be a fart in the wind - It pops once and then it fades.

As for your suggestions, I never were hyped for Metroid Prime and to this day I hold resentment for the Prime series. Metroid IV Fusion is what I was hyped for and that title delivered. Likewise did Aliens vs Predator 3 ( 2010 ) deliver for me yet everyone else seemed to resent it.

As for GTA5... No. That game didn't interest me in the slightest. GTA never got better than GTA2 ( and Vice City ). HALO 2 was never as anticipated as HALO 3 was amongst it's fanbase, but Breath the Wild and World of WarCraft ( Vanilla ) sure.

So no. I highly disagree on your list of " Look ats " that you chose.

The first trailer being the 2:21 long reveal 6 years ago? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvVjkqB3LH0

Or are you referring to the long Gameplay one from last year? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXi6A8osp9s

From everything I understand you can choose your path, so you can still be a cop... you don't HAVE to be a thug, but yeah you may start out like that for the tutorial. Its a story driven RPG. Watch the beginning couple minutes of the second video. At the 1:00 minute mark they explain this concept, you can be many things, its your choice. Absolutely I could be wrong, and if its that important to you, then wait for it to come out and confirm you can play the path that you want before buying it.

I'm not going to get baited into discussing the merits of the other games. You really missed out not playing Metroid Prime 1, its absolutely amazing. But they are all universally hailed as truly amazing games. Mid to high 90's across all nearly all review sites.
https://www.metacritic.com/game/gamecube/metroid-prime
https://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/grand-theft-auto-v
https://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox/halo-2

They are arguably demonstratably superior games.

And yeah, I agree AvP 3 wasn't very good. AvP 1 was amazing and AvP 2 drove it out of the park. I played lots of AvP 2 multi online but then the community was split by the expansion and died off. It was sad.

I'll concede your point about Halo 3. it appears to be just as good as Halo 2. I mentioned Halo 2 specifically because of my friends who play lots of Halo say that #2 was the best. https://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/halo-3

The trailer from six years ago. That was the one that captured my interest.
Then they made a second trailer that looked extremely lowtech thuggery and I hated it.
Then they released the gameplay video, and I really loved that and felt a lot more hopeful, but it was still low-tech thuggery in it and I hate that,.

I have tried Metroid Prime and I wasn't very impressed. I have intended to play them, some day.
But long story short. what pisses me off about them, is that they don't fit the canon. No, they don't.
They ruined, everything. A perfect trilogy whose highlight was a Sequel. But then Prime happened, and we never moved past it.
That is why, I hate Prime.

I played AvP1 a hell a lot more than I ever played AvP2. I played 1 so much my disk actually broke in the CD Tray. I had no idea they could do that. I bought 2 and I loved 2. it was a great game, but it wasn't as good as 1 in my opinion. When 3 came out, which was suppose to be a remake of 1, it gave me everything I wanted and more.. I played it in Multiplayer and I had great fun, especially how gullible people were online if you played an Alien. The best game aside from this series is Predator Concrete Jungle on PS2 / Xbox. Fantastic game. Yet so many seem to hate it. Poor reviews in gaming magazines at the time. It baffles me.

Fair enough. I was never that into HALO myself, and while HALO 2 was anticipated, it was just the ruckus around 3 was so much higher compared to 2, which was just more of 1 pretty much.

Yeah, it is a storyline RPG. That's why I don't like being forced into being a thug because that's not where I'd take my character willingly. Nor would I had called my character V but, I understand why they did that. It's stuff like that, that bothers me, where I was hyped for something different that never came, because they spent years making Witcher 3 and then deciding to scrap the original plan of C2077 and just redo it into this. Though don't get me wrong, I am not saying bad game. It looks fantastic if they can keep the gameplay demo dream they showed and I want to play that a lot. But yeah, I'll just keep talking iin circles if don't stop here.

Where exactly are you getting this from?? You were hyped for a high tech cop shooter? But that is never what Cyberpunk was... unless I am missing something?

Even this news article two years after the initial 2013 trailer was released has virtually zero information about what the game was going to be like: https://venturebeat.com/2014/11/17/cyberpunk-2077/

Here is a direct quote from the article:
"So, much of the mystery surrounding Cyberpunk 2077 remains, but at least we know a little more about it, not least that it’s an ongoing concern for CD Projekt Red. The fact that the developer has kept the game away from public view for so long is actually incredible, given that it’s an project with tens of developers actively working on it. It’s been in development since 2012 and has a multinational team in place, yet nothing has leaked."

And the source game, the pen and paper tabletop RPG, while you CAN play as a Cop, you can also play many other roles: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyberpunk_2020#Roles

Lastly, this pen and paper game is itself based on the world created in a novel called Hardwired, in which the main characters are a smuggler and a mercenary assassin: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hardwired_(novel) Edit: the brackets here seem to break the link, you'll have to copy & paste.

So... at no point was it "a cop game" like you are implying. Sorry that you have projected an imaginary game that you wanted to play and it turned out it wasn't that??

Edited it down for simplicity.
Shortly said, yeah. That's exactly what I was hoping for.
That's exactly how I was under the impression that C2077 would be like, -and that you could choose to be somehting else if you wanted to.

But instead, it's, just your typical bottom of the barrel start.

Basically... Why would you ever go into the cop profession in C2077 from this point forward?
Or to put it differently, what is your motivation to do so? The way I see it, they've outlined a very clear path they want you to take if we assume that the player will be playing as V and what we have seen is the prologue. This is your path now. The idea that you can choose from here is ridiculous. Noononnonoo, you can no more choose the path you take in this game than you can choose the path in say Deus Ex or Shadowrun.

This, I firmly believe, because this game isn't a Cyberpunk D&D so to say. It's a pre-set story with a pre-set end game.
That's my point.

.. I think... Excuse me, the Heatwave is messing with my mind as well so I hope what I say makes sense.

Ok, so lets break this down piece by piece:

"That's exactly how I was under the impression that C2077 would be like, -and that you could choose to be somehting else if you wanted to.

But instead, it's, just your typical bottom of the barrel start."

I understand, you were looking for something more like Rainbow Six then, where you are already an established and highly ranking police officer, yes? But that game is not an RPG, Cyberpunk IS. In ALL RPGs, literally all of them, yes you start at the bottom of the barrel. Thats quite literally the concept to all of them.

" Basically... Why would you ever go into the cop profession in C2077 from this point forward?
Or to put it differently, what is your motivation to do so?"

Because as it is shown in the 48 minute gameplay demo from a year ago, you are a releative unknown in a city full of releative unknowns, and you finally attracted enough attention for someone of repute to perhaps want to deal with you (Dexter Deshawn). In a similar vein, there are likely thousands of recruits for the police and 95% of them are going to be line cops killed in the line of duty. If you so choose to take a righteous path both in the mission that Dexter Deshawn gives you (and the developers clearly highlight that you can choose to be honest throughout the demo like here: https://youtu.be/Fko23gfERE4?t=1424) and then afterwards look to join up with the cops, likely a fixer can get you an in without boot camp. The motivation could easily be to help bring order back to such obvious chaos in the city that you just witnessed, scavs ripping people apart and obviously huge powerhouses such as the maelstrom gang, the cops will need all the help they can get. Easy new story arc to become a cop at a higher level without having to do basic line duty, which would be boring.

"you can no more choose the path you take in this game than you can choose the path in say Deus Ex or Shadowrun."

Wow... Ok. Yeah Deus Ex is linear... right.

That's my point.
Do you have any proof of this? Because the developers seem to indicate the opposite.

For example, the Corpo background could lead you to being a Corpo Cop, which is lore accurate: https://cyberpunk.fandom.com/wiki/Cop

Here is a Dev repsonse on this topic: https://forums.cdprojektred.com/index.php?threads/should-there-be-more-life-paths-in-cyberpunk-2077.11010970/post-11645437

No, I was not looking for something like Rainbow Six.
All I will say to this whole part, is that we'll see once the game is out.
But my bet is, I will be right. That is all.

To be clear, I wasn't referring to Rainbow Six: Siege, which is not much of a Rainbox Six game, but more like Rainbow Six: Vegas's single player.

Man... GOG really messes up the Hyperlinks sometimes.
