ast486: Ah ha!
You were right; the fan control program shows the full version.
It is: 525.125.06
So, I downgraded from 535 drivers (had to manually run a purge, because intermediary 530 drivers caused a dependency loop that the Driver Manager couldn't resolve) and installed 525 drivers.
Good news, I no longer have to dual boot to Windows to play Starfield (though it has cost about 15-20% performance).
Bad news, CP2077 1.62+ still crashes reliably after a minute or so.

I'm going to keep playing with Lutris settings. I wonder if you'd be happy to share some of the key ones?
Which Wine build have you got selected, DXVK version etc?

In the meantime, I might try the bottle suggestion as well. Perhaps Lutris is just doing 1 unexpected thing with settings that bottles doesn't do, because I mean they both just use Wine at the end of the day, right.

Sure.
lets see... currently I'm using lutris-ge-proton 8-13; though I started with 8.8 and it worked great even back then!
I only upgraded it because they only support the latest version of it when you ask for help on the lutris discord server.

Eh you are using it through lutris Runners secion by clicking the Manage Version button, right?
Not manually installing them via apt or something like that?

So onto the global runners....
DXVK = 2.3
VKD3D = 2.9 (this was the one that updated to a non-working beta version I mntioned before)
D3D Extras = 2
DXVK NVAPI = 0.6.4
dgvoodoo2 not used.

I've been testing the 2.0 patch with my Bottles install and it seems to work , performance has dropped a little more , I'm getting an average of 50 fps in the benchmark now. During actual gameplay it feels lower than this though, it's not the best experience and I wouldn't want to play the game like this for long.

I've had a couple of crashes when exiting the benchmark back to the main menu, but none ingame so far.

My system specs are :

Ryzen 5 2600
16 GB ram
RTX 3060 ti

Linux Mint 21 Vanessa

Also I have the game installed on an HDD (will be getting an SSD soon).

Has anyone tried 2.0 with Lutris or Heroic Game Launcher ? Does it still crash with Nvidia cards ?

Runs the same as before here on Arch linux using Heroic Launcher (wine-ge-proton8.15) maybe a little bit better. Only problem is I'm getting the controller ui instead of kb and mouse.
EDIT: Scratch that it's buggy af! Open the map and can't use it because it thinks I'm using a controller. Think I might just install winblows
I only use lutris for launchers like battle.net, epic and so on. Using Heroic for all my gog games and they run pretty much perfect

The game seems to be running fine using Heroic for me as well, I had to change the version of Proton I was using to the latest (Proton - Proton -GE-Latest) as I was getting some major crashes and graphical corruption with the previous version I was using ( Wine - Wine - GE-Proton-8-8).

Performance is also significantly better than when using Bottles.

I'm also getting the controller issue, but I think folks using Windows are experiencing the same issue too, one strange thing I noticed was that everything was showing up normally until I moved my mouse pointer then it switched to controller mode.

Hopefully they'll patch this fairly quickly.

Yeah it's a right pain in the bum. Can't set waypoints and so on on the map. Another thing I noticed is I can't go to sleep in Judy's bad anytime I want to anymore, I have to leave the building and come back for it to work.
Hmmm it seems that I can use the map without any noticeable issue, I can set waypoints by right clicking, navigate using wsad and zoom using my mouse wheel, I don't think I'm missing any functionality, it's just that the prompts are for controller inputs.

Yeah map is working ok now.
I can confirm that I have 1.62 working in linux. Even path tracing runs fine.

Configuration:

OS: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
Kernel: 6.2.0-26-generic
NVIDIA driver: 535.113.01
Win API Platform: GE-Proton8-14

The only different thing that I did was to upgrade the driver to a newer version than the distro provided one. I have actually went through the pain of getting and installing the upstream driver from the NVIDIA website.

It looks like Canonical is not upgrading the nvidia driver package to match upstream too often.

Edit:

Not sure if this makes any difference, but i have these options enabled as such

export PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1
export PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0
export VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11,dxr

Important note:
Installing the upstream driver in my case causes the OS to not boot correctly by default.
I have to boot from recovery option and then just resume. no other side effect noticed. I assume something is wrong with the kernel mode setting.

Edit 2:
The 2.0 version for the game also works in the above setup, though it has some game related bugs, not linux specific

I've been meaning to, but the patch doesn't show up for me in Lutris. :-(
Oh no wonder... looking in my library through the broswer and there's a full 2.0 installer, but NO 1.63 to 2.0 patch!

Installed winblows 10 and the game ran fine, Well it had less fps than in Arch! Back on Arch now and just getting it installed again to see if fresh install helps (I doubt it will)
I have found one very annoying issue with 2.0 which is probably related to the controller issue, the toggle crouch function doesn't work - it doesn't matter which key I bind it to , holding a key to crouch still works but I find constantly having to hold the key down awkward, I much prefer the toggle.

I wonder if there are any other controls that don't work ( I haven't had a chance to test everything yet).

Yep, I noticed that and things like when a job comes up it says press z to track job, Press z and it does nothing, there were a couple more too but they have slipped my mind.
Just a thought, is there a setting in one of the config files we can edit to fix the controller issue ?

I got it working and yup, I have the same problem.
it's super annoying!

I'm used to sneaking up to groups of enemies, quickhacking them, then finishing them off with guns..... can't even do that now do the everyone-is-using-an-xbox-controller bug! :-(

Wow I'm not even getting that!
it shows the Xbox controller buttons for me instead.

that would be great to know!
Maybe make a new thread on that subject, since this is the linux thread.
