So I got 1.05. Patch notes say it addresses a bunch of crashing issues. Didn't do anything about the only crashing issues I've had. Which happen to be big ones. Sometimes, in regular play, I can manage to look in a mirror without it crashing, but it crashes EVERY SINGLE TIME, without fail, when a cutscene forces a look into a mirror. So, this means that I can't start a new game with a custom character, because the opening cutscene features immediate mirrors. And, on the game that I have going because I had a friend send me a save file that was already through the opening scene, I now can't progress past the Johnny Silverhand band scene, because of the shot in the mirror. I'm getting real close to uninstalling and demanding a refund. This is complete horseshit, and CDP is supposed to be better than this.

Some stuff you can try if you haven't already.

Thanks. I had actually seen that thread last week, and tried all of it, with no luck. But there are a few new posts there since I saw it, and they mentioned limiting FPS to 10, and that actually worked. I've tested by starting multiple new characters and, at 10 FPS, it hasn't crashed on the opening mirror scene. Thanks again, and spread the word! Limiting to 10 FPS during the mirror scenes that cause crashes seems to be a consistent fix.

None of that helped me either.
1.05 is still crashing a lot, including the driver stopped working one which requires a system restart.

I gave my windows 7 the updates, even DDU'ed it after the 1.05 patch just to see if that would fix it.
It didn't.

HAHAHAHA, So I checked a mirror and now my character is somehow bald and has extremely dark skin. Not a crash but extremely random. Oh yeah, the freckles are gone, too.
Deleted.

that will take some time anyway .
Just for the benefit of anybody else reading this thread, the FPS limiting trick has worked like a charm. I have no idea why, maybe the mirror bug has something to do with framerate not lining up with refresh rate or something, but it works. I've now tested every spot in the game where I've been getting crashes caused by mirrors/reflections. The opening scenes, on all three lifepath options, the mirror in Dex's room at the end of the heist, the mirror in the Johnny Silverhand reveal scene, and the window reflection shortly after that, when Johnny says, "I'm gonna take over". Each of those spots has been a guaranteed crash for me, but if I set the FPS limit to 10 just before reaching those spots, it has got through them without the crash every time. Until they get it properly fixed through patches, that seems to be the best solution. No need to mess with your graphics settings, or .ini files, or add anything new or change your drivers. Just cap your framerate at 10 when approaching a spot that's caused you to crash, get through it, then turn your framerate back up.

Oh, and for anybody who didn't know, or hadn't noticed, the FPS limiter is right there in the in-game menu. Under the "video" tab, along with resolution and v-sync options.
