ast486: SSD's are still 50% more money then HDD's here.
So I can get a TB HDD for the same price as a 512SSD.

I have an ssd, but it's only ... I think 128gig.
I could only use it for the OS... and honestly I don't care about that initial load most of the time.

I also don't want to spend an extra 130$ for a new ssd.

Strykaar: Sorry to burst your bubble, but this has nothing to do with only initial load. If you run a windows system your 32gb ram will not help you.

You whole system will get an insane speed boost by using a ssd.

I just switched from my Sata SSD to an NVME SSD two weeks ago and thought "well, this cant be such a boost" and boy was I wrong... even that upgrade feels insane regarding the whole system.

Coming AAA Games will demand SSDs as a bare minimum. Even blizzard tried with the latest wow expansion to bring a SSD as minimum requirement, but made a turn short before release.
You are wrong.

As I said, I have an ssd and it worked fine. (SATA btw)
But the ONLY difference was in the initial load.

Streaming games may benefit from an SSD, but if the game preloads the data like most games do, then it doesn't make any significant different.
It's like 2 seconds more to load a big game when preloading.

Oh no.... I just realized I could put the ssd in as a secondary drive and use the new galaxy 2077 option to do the patch on the secondary drive.
That'd speed it up and use the HDD only during initial copy and when copying back! :-D

I wish I'd thought of this before the patch was more then an hour into being applied. >.<

Yeah, thats what I did. Games are on my 6tb HDD, but patching it does on one of my SSD. The number of IOPS for patching is insane for this game. Lots of SSD wear and tear.

Their Patching method is proper though unlike many companies out their who fake patching and just have Users download excessive files to replace the archive this is what patching means not this download 100gb Cod updating shaders rubbish.

Nice.

It's at 61% now.

Stuck at applying patches. Another fail.

Welcome to the waiting game! :-D
I just noticed something interesting with Galaxy patching!

The patch % is now MUCH more granular... it actually moves up by 1%'s as it goes instead if just sitting there without feedback for an hour at a time! :-D

Must be different for you because I'm stuck at 59% just like all the other times, just waiting it to move 1% every hour.
now i can't even pass to menu
i'm done

Try updating galaxy.

Anyway tried the 1.05 patch and game still crashes the entire graphics driver, requiring a reboot of system.
Guess I have to wait till the new year for the next patch.

Are you sure your graphics card is still stable when pushed full hammer? This game is very tough on your hardware and your graphics card could be either having heat issues, voltage issues, or simply have degraded slightly to the point where it just can't handle the same top end clock speed.

I would consider underclocking the card by a little bit, just to see if that makes a difference. And if that doesn't do it then I'd try some other graphically intensive application and see if pushing the GPU all out is stable. Just to be sure.

I got the same issue and I tried underclocking. It didn't do jack. And you know, my card runs DOOM Eternal with no problem AND it fits the minimum system reqs.

CD Projekt are just the worst.

Another patch and another disappointment that they have yet to fix the issue of the game not launching on windows 7. It has been 9 days now that the game has been out and I haven't been able to even see a loading screen.
Still getting random flatline crashes... I mean, when it's not crashing I am at least getting more stable fps.
