Do resources such as trees, mushrooms, fish, animals and the like ever regrow? Or are they exhausted forever?

EDIT: the manual says that trees regrow, and I indeed see saplings lying around but they never seem to grow. I have observed them for lengthier periods of time with the speed cheat code on but nothing happened.

I know the food berries regrow for sure. So do the fruits on the fruit trees.

So I'd assume that mushrooms and trees at the very least would regrow too.

I suspect animals might too. Fish - I have no idea.
