I have tried -dx9 in multiple ways, tried renaming Bin32 and Bin64, tried the c-1 launch files, and a few other odd things and I can not get this game to load or play past 27% loading on a new game before it just crashes closed.
Windows 10, 9700k, 2080 super, 4tb M.2 ssd, 32gb ram.

I bought this game on sale a year ago and now I'm SOL for that $5 I guess.

UPDATE: What worked for me was a totally legal steam version of the game with the -dx9 running the 32bit version. I'm getting good performance and no crashing. I give up on GOG's files because after trying a dozen things including everything support told me (except for firewall... wtf would that be needed for?) and it will just NOT work. -shrug-

UPDATE UPDATE: So I got the GOG files to work by uninstalling and also deleting the Crysis folder in Documents/My Games. Reinstalled, did the -dx9 shortcut for the Crysis.exe inside the Bin32 folder and it also works now. Seems maybe launching anything else will put info into some files in the My Games/Crysis that will stop the 32bit launcher from working again? I have no clue.

LINUX UPDATE: Now I'm on linux (using lutris to manually install) and the game will work if you launch through the Crysis.exe in the 32bit folder, but launching the 64bit exe will just crash the game, but it won't stop the 32bit from working. I don't need to do the shortcut -dx9 thing either.

For reference, this is what support told me:

>>>>Please open the GOG GALAXY App, select the game and use the repair button which will be located next to the PLAY button (on the right) > Manage installation > Repair

https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003930017-My-game-data-is-corrupt-How-can-I-repair-my-game-

>>>>Using an unusual DPI setting has been known to cause problems for some games. Please follow these steps to reset it to the default value and let me know if it helped:

I) Right-click an empty section of your desktop and go to "Display settings",

II) In "Display settings" window locate ""Scale and layout"" and select the 100% value. Press Apply to save settings.

III) In some cases it might be also a good idea to have a look at the "Advanced scaling settings" section.

1) Please reinstall the game AND add it to your anti-virus/firewall software's exception/trusted list.

Please make sure that you install the game to a short path, for example:

C:\GOG or C:\Games

2) Please install the June 2010 DirectX runtime package:

as well as the regular one:

4) Please update your graphics device drivers as the ones you are using are heavily outdated.

I'm in the same position. It ran fine a few months ago on the rig I'm still using but not now. It just will not start despite trying all the suggestions on the internet. Either the game has been changed and won't run any more (to make us buy the remastered version?) or a WIndows update has inadvertently caused the issue. I can't think what else it could be.

It's so weird because before I had an issue, it ran for a little bit no problem, just poor performance (because it was running the 32bit? idk) but then after uninstalling, reinstalling, so many changes and different settings I can't replicate what made it work lol

idk I'm going to keep trying to get it to work and I will for sure update if I fix it somehow.

This is what worked for me too after creating a shortcut, For some reason it will not play through GOG galaxy.

I'm glad it worked for ya :)

Now I'm on linux and the game will work if you launch through the Crysis.exe in the 32bit folder, but launching the 64bit exe will just crash the game but won't stop the 32bit from working. I don't need to do the shortcut -dx9 thing either.

Had the same problem with a black screen and CTD after start.
I tried the different solution tips but they didn't work for me. This example shows one time more why DRM is bad for the legit customers and why the DRM has to be properly removed.

What really worked was the alternative C1-Launcher from ccomrade on github which removed all traces of the original DRM: github.com/ccomrade/c1-launcher
This enabled the game to run normally (it could be started inside Galaxy or with exe or with link).

I'm sad to see that GOG did not offer this solution or point to the right website.

Even more so, Have the game fixed up themselves

so we don't have to make an shortcut or go to whatever site to download something.
