I got Crusader Kings 2 on Steam but haven't played it yet. Is there any reason to get Crusader Kings 1 here also, other than to patronize gog rather than Steam?

Thank you

Honestly saying yes. The price is amazingly good, the content is great, has all the expansions and if you're an old fart and/or patient dude you can overcome any clunky ui or brownish graphics and stuff. This game has a lotta charm even nowadays.
Does CK complete contain more features than the CK 2 base game? CK 2 vanilla lacked too many features in my opinion.
I bought Crusader Kings 2 on another vendor before it had any DRM. I recently tried to download it again after a hard drive failure and now it is no longer available. I would have to redeem a key for Steam. Since Steam and I do not agree with their draconic policies the game is no longer available to me. I bought it where I did because it was available without DRM and without requiring Steam.

Hey, you again. Howdy?
Well this one is heavily tied to Steam I suppose. A shame, gotta say, but that's the current state of it. Maybe asking for paradox wouldn't hurt since they embraced gog a whole lot in the past 4 yrs. Or... you could try Crusader Kings I here instead!

Despite its age, brownish graphics and awkward ui compared to newer titles I'd dare to say its a gem from a decade past. Been giving this a decent run and no "ragrets" so far, for real. It's funny how a sequel can overshadow its progenitor so much but that fascinates me so I'm trying it bit by bit while on vacation. Pretty cool experience but I must say I'm pretty lost sometimes.

Weirdly enough I first played it on an awesome imac (again, mac ports of these would rock, how 'bout that, VP?) with one of the most amazing screens for me to date. Not the best game to test, yep, but I dare to say the best screen I could lay my eyes on, next to an old samsung lappy I had + an emac I saw in a store a while ago. Good times.

Can say that Ck2 vanilla is lacking. 80+ hours into it made me buy at least 3 dlcs which I regret since the very next week, if I'm not mistaken, a better pack was available for a better price. Hmmmm

Hey there,
Once Crusader Kings 2 was no longer available to me I did purchase crusader kings 1 here on GOG. I have really enjoyed the game. But it is a different game in many ways and thus does not quite scratch the same itch.

Maybe only Imperator will, then. From what I've heard it will, uh, scratch that itch ;)

Bloody L', I just went and checked and it turns out that they have replaced my DRM-free CK2 with Steam key. Dafuq. Paradox is mad.
