THE BATTLE OF SISAK

VER 1.0

I'm releasing a new custom scenario for Cossacks - Back to War. It's a full featured, historically inspired mission about the Battle of Sisak of 1593.

You can read more about it on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Sisak
And here: http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=144158
Sisak Fort today: Google Image

The depiction is not 100% historically accurate, nor it is intended to be so. It's more of an adaptation of the real events to create a fun and challenging scenario for Cossacks.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS & DOWNLOAD:
1) Download the 7z SFX here: <span class="podkreslenie">Sync.com Download</span></span> (it's a self extracting 7z exe)
2) Extract to your root Cossacks:BtW folder (beside the exe)
3) Run the game, go to Random Map -> Designed -> Sisak_Battle.m3d
DO NOT CHANGE/TOUCH ANY OTHER OPTIONS (PLAYERS, COLORS ETC) OR THE SCENARIO WILL BREAK!
4) Play the mission in SLOW MODE only. Fast mode will make timed triggers too fast! This is a Vanilla game bug.

Report any bugs and enjoy! Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Good job! Will try this and tell my friend who introduced me to Cossacks (and also made lots of maps, several very good).

I see you say nothing about Cossacks 2... Is that one a total loss? I remember trying it once and did not enjoy it then.

Here is to seeing a Cossacks 3 some day on GOG! <raises a glass of cheap red wine>
I played both Cossacks II games and American Conquest.

Cossacks II was ok, and I especially liked Battle for Europe mode. However, there was this bug where ammo would dissapear in bfe mode for no reason and ruined my game. I would happen all the time with russia. As for the skirmishes my Cossacks II games would always end up being huge, slow stalemates. I was not nearly as dynamic as Cossacks I. I also love the avanturistic feel of Cossacks I and it's rpg-like campaigns and missions.

I never really got into AC. It was too complicated and the morale mechanics were kind of annoying there.

I'm not against that kind of realism (think Rome: total war, it was great), but it just does not work with Cossacks gameplay for me, although it was way better in Cossacks II.

TL;DR: CI > CII > AC

Neither can I make sense of American Conquest despite trying now and then.
Hi,

I really appreciate your work, it's great thing that you have made a mission again for Cossacks.

I tried out the custom scenario and I can't get on the ferry because my commander dies before the ferry arrives. I have tried this about 10 times. I have 32 Pandurs and that's a lot if you consider that I can have 34 Pandurs maximum.

So I think that the ferry should come earlier or the Ottomans should come later.

Here is my saved game at the ferry
Or maybe the ferry's trigger broke in my game. I played on fast mode with normal game speed, so maybe that's the problem. Cossacks won't save the slow mode setting, so I have to set that every time I start a new game. I'll try it out tomorrow with slow mode.

Thank you for the feedback.

You should play in slow mode only. The timers get messed up in fast mode. This is an inherent game bug, and there is nothing I can do. You need to load a game before you get the "Sir, Ottomans approach" message. You can hit F12 as soon as you start loading your game to bring up the menu before the game actually starts and switch to slow mode. That's what I do.

I tested the boat sequence many times and had a friend test it as well. Just play in slow mode and you should be able to make a narrow escape. You can set your units to "no attack" mode to make them less distracted as you enter the boat.
