So Cossacks II Anthology has been released on GOG.com.
https://www.gog.com/game/cossacks_ii_anthology

Is it the same version with the same problems as the Steam version?
For example you get this message every time you start the game "You have changed gamedata. Internet game will not be possible" for no reason.

This is something I'd like to ask to. I have the GSC Strategy Collection from Gamer's gate, but found issues playing on my new Win 10 machine (Cossacks 1 too fast and map scrolling way too fast, Cossacks 2 Crashing to desktop or plain not running). Mind you, I will PAY once more to play COssacks 2 if GOG has fixed it.

So far I have a Physical copy , the Gamersgate version that fixed issues with physical copy. If I get GOG cossacks2 I would have paid 3 times for the same games, but it is that good.
In the first games you can lower the game speed in single player.

I also want to know how well C2 works now.
I have bought it.
The version of Napoleonic Wars is 1.2, so you get the game with the latest patch.
The version of Battle for Europe is 1.3, but patch 1.4 was never available in English.
I don't get the "You have changed gamedata. Internet game will not be possible" message , when I start the game and "Cossacks 2 stopped working" when I quit from the game.
So it is a better version than the Steam version or at least on my computer.

I wonder why the developers didn't apply these fixes to the Steam version.
While it doesn't have all the issues the steam version had (mainly the gamedata crash on boot and freeze issues), it has one I find even worse. Finally getting the game started on my win 8.1 laptop had me hoping for the best and then the skirmish starts and the lag is just horrendous...

Apparently a common issue among users who managed to get the steam version working and seems native on the GOG version.

Tried all the usual suspects (multi-core disabling, compatibility - which by the way is frozen on xp sp2 natively - and NVIDIA settings) but to no avail.

Had my hopes up when I saw it pop on GOG but ultimately considering refund if there is no available solution.

P.S. : Only tried Battle for Europe so I can't say for Napoleonic Wars.
I checked out, whether I have this problem or not.
I have lag in Battle for Europe, too. The framrate drops from 60 to 13,.
I don't have this problem with Napoleonic Wars, I have stable 60 fps.
Here's a list of what's fixed in GOG versions compared to Steam version:

there was a crash on exit fixed but that was mostly for Windows 7
There was a Windows 8/10 issue where the game would not launch in full screen mode
There was an intro video bug that was fixed
You won't see the GSC logo but you will get the full intro
And there was Glitchy campaign briefings bug fixed but I have no info as to which version of Windows that bug showed up on

framerate issues were not fixed as far as I know.
The low fps problem excists in the Steam version of Battle for Europe, too.

I remember that I had a lot of problems with the retail version, but not this one. So I tried overwriting some of the game files with files from the retail version, and the problem seems to be solved.

I have uploaded them: http://www.mediafire.com/file/4bl6crcgu12gp96/Bfe+fps+fix.zip
Maybe you can solve this problem with this method, too.

Thanks !

Tried it but didn't work. Although I remember trying something like that that on the steam version and got it somewhat working, so maybe this will work for some.

Doesn't work, but thanks.
They added a notice on the store page.

Additionally, Cossacks II Anthology requires either a Nvidia GeForce or AMD Radeon graphics device. IntelHD or multi GPU configuration with IntelHD and Nvidia GeForce is not supported.

Seems like refund is the only option for those affected...
Rats!
Thankfully I can play on my desktop computer myself but everyone does not own one. Good to know how it stands. On to the wishlist it goes for me.
I was quite pleased to see this appear on GoG.

But I'm finding the random crashing/freezing to be intolerable.

It seems to occur consistently on Napoleonic Wars - MIssion 2, Building Tutorial and certain other levels.

Ruins what's otherwise a different but excellent game.

I'm not so sure that the game was ever completely stable to begin with =\

Hi, I also love Cossacks games! Cossacks 2 it the best! But I have also problem with lags in Battle for Europe in campaign. It seems that when I start constructing first building, the game goes super slow. Its so annoying, almost unplayable.

I'm on windows 8, i5, 8 GB RAM...so setup should be a problem.

Anybody fixed this?

PS: Are any more scenarios for download for Cossacks 2 (either version)?

Dunno what kind of magic you worked there, mate, but by golly, it worked like a charm! Thanks a bunch!
