I have the Epic version, and the save files are a totally different format (so far), where they're in a folder each.

Supposedly, in Steam they work without issue, and I found where the Epic and GOG game saves are respectively:

GOG: C:\Users\username\Documents\My Games\Control\Saves

Epic: C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Remedy\Control

The files are in a proprietary format that has some encrypted or obfuscated data, so any guidance on how to migrate them would be greatly appreciated.

I figured it out.

If you already started a game in GOG, wipe everything inside Documents\My Games\Control\Saves directory.

Then take the individual savegame-slot-XX files from their folders out, one at a time and rename everything to the corresponding savegame-slot-xx_FILENAME and delete the .chunk at the end.

Then make sure to delete the --containerDisplayName.Chunk file, this one isn't even needed at all.

All your saves should come back.

I should add that while you can continue playing, my mission select is glitched but that's no big deal.

Thanks very much. Now I can reuse my Epic Games savegame.
Well it appears the GOG version follows the same save file naming as the Steam Ultimate Edition albeit in a different save folder.

But more importantly, if the GOG version is the latest one which is supposed to be v1.13, it should have the fix for unlocking the AWE content correctly if you are continuing progress from the Epic saves.

Thanks! I also confirm that this seems to be working. I finished everything up to The Foundation on my Epic save-files, and after hitting Continue there was a prompt with the new AWE mission.
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3 <3

It worked, thanks!

Very Helpful!!

Hoping it works smooth as I have just finished the main storyline & a lot of side missions on the Epic version. First game I have tried from my now massive backlog after finishing my new build a few days ago. Did not know much about it but glad that I decided to give it a try because it has been a lot of fun and left me wanting more of it!

Twitch Prime just gave out Control Ultimate, I'm coming from Epic Standard edition and I'm trying to transfer my saves, so fair warning this is about to blow up again.
So, I tried to do what you said, I have my mission select, but I cannot continue my saved game.
I think the only issue was because I was confused about the "_FILENAME" What is that supposed to be? The saves My games>Control folder?
Edit: I tried starting a mission and it wouldn't load either.

I'm having the same issue, very confused on the renaming structure. I'm coming from Epic games standard edition with season pass so I have dlc save files as well.
Attached is an image of my epic save files. Any help would be appreciated, ty.

Nvm, think I solved it. you have to do this for each folder (attached image).

Game launches fine, my video settings got reset but it let me pick up where I left off on my Epic copy in the middle of the DLC.

Thank a lot, both to you and to argenisX.

I'm sure a script/batch file would have been quicker in the end, but my mental capacity was just enough to manually copy and rename everything. :D

I just did with save game 00 and it works fine. Is it really necessary to do with all folders?
