It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Thank you for the advice on getting it to work. However, while the fix does allow the game to run, a lot of the textures look like they are being rendered by the software. The background looks very segmented as well. Is there any way past this or does anyone else experience this issue?

AllGrey: Patch for Conquest: Frontier Wars that fixes the problem run of the game in Windows 8 / 10
So, you're the same guy that in another thread who posted a link to a pirated version of the game? And who wasn't aware that the GOG version is already patched to 1.07 which would suggest you haven't actually bought it?

I'm not really sure it's a great idea for anyone to try this "patch" you're providing that should need to do nothing more than change a single line in an INI file.

1. This is not a pirated version of the game, only MOD for the game.
I do not sell this mod and it is the basic condition that may violate the rights of creators of CFW.
Moreover the developers know about this mod. This is to some extent advertising CFW.

2. Actually the patch (c-fw_patch_for_w_8-10_v.1.0.zip: https://yadi.sk/d/fA-53vNOjTG7U)
does not do anything, just change the file Conquest.ini.
If you install it past the game you will see this.

3. That there was no lunges towards mod c2-fwf,
I will make a special patch c2-fwf for version of the game from GOG.
I hope it will satisfy all parties.

AllGrey is a respected modder he was the one that started the huge modding in conquest. if it was not for him we may not even have the conquest fixes we have!

EDIT: also some people do not know how to change a INI file

If you are having problems with a screen resolution, then you need to Disable display scaling on high DPI for the game. This can be done as follows:
Right click on Conquest.exe file or the shortcut and the shortcut menu, select Properties ~> Compatibility ~> we put a tick Disable display scaling on high DPI settings ~> click OK. Reboot your computer.

Nope. It's forced on by default (Already checked and greyed out so I cannot uncheck it)
Thank you guys so much for this thread - now I can play my favorite RTS of all time again!

Now if only I could zoom out more....

This selection is not highlighted for me and does not allow me to change it.
I applied the following initial solution (since I 've only checked the first "Terran Campaign" mission start only), using the retail CD of the game, but it will probably also work with the GoG and Steam versions.

For the CD version only, since the GoG version is already updated, with the latest patch:

Download and apply the 1.07 Patch

(http://www.moddb.com/games/conquest-frontier-wars1/downloads/conquest-frontier-wars-patch-107)

For all versions:

Open conquest.ini (located in the folder that the game is installed, with your favorite text editor. My personal choice is Notepad++, since it is very powerfull, but easy to use at the same time. You will find it here: https://notepad-plus-plus.org/download/v7.4.2.html . (Also make a back up copy of it, in case you make a mistake in editing it).

Find the following entry:

[Features]
LimitResolutions = off ; on = limit to 640x480 -> 1024x768

and change it to:

[Features]
LimitResolutions = on ; on = limit to 640x480 -> 1024x768,

so as to unlock all the available resolutions.

Do the same for the following entry:

[System]
.
.
.
IRenderPipeline = RendSft

and change it into:

[System]
.
.
.
IRenderPipeline = Rend0

This entry will force the game to use an DirectX renderer, instead of the unsupported software one.

Save your new version of conquest.ini, since we are done with file editing!!

The game will now start, but you will probably encounter graphical glitches, when you try to access the options screen. (Pink screens etc.)

Download dgVoodoo 2 ( version 2.54 from http://dege.freeweb.hu/ ) and unzip it to a folder of your choice. (dgVoodoo is an extremelly powerfull Direct/Glide wrapper. It will intercept the unsupported DirectX or Glide software calls from the game, and it will "translate" them, in DX11 calls that the current version of windows understands).

In the folder that you unzipped dgVoodoo, you will find another folder named MS. Copy the contents of this folder, (three files: D3D8.dll, D3DImm.dll, DDraw.dll), into the folder that you installed Conquest - Frontier Wars.

Remain in the dgVoodoo folder and double click dgVoodooCpl.exe . The dgVoodoo Control Panel will launch, and you 'll need to select the Direct X tab.

From the videocard drop down menu select "dgVoodoo Virtual 3D Accelerated Card".

From the VRAM drop down menu select "1024 MB".

That's it. You sould now be able to play the game, with no glitches, and with widescreen resolutions.
