Welcome
My problem with this grate game is that when I played it back in 99 :D the game speed was a little slower. A fact is that My rig was a PII266Mhz 64MB and a 8MB S3 Virge. So My question is:
Is there a way to configure the game speed?
Not sure if there is... but the game runs at the right speed in GOG's version.
Check the other posts in this section of the forums : one of the Gog staffers linked to the Commandos forums where there's patches...
I think what Lone3Wolf had in mind is this link: http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?t=91001. I just took it from the other topic, so anyone else with this problem don't need to search.. ;)

The whole problem exists because today's CPU's are way too fast.
What you need to do is download a program called CpuGrab. I use it with this game and it works great. Just don't forget to switch it off once you stop playing commandos ;)
Try to download it from here:

It's a polish site.

Thanks for the reply, I'll try it out today. And sorry for abandoning this thread for a while, this weekend I was getting married XD so I had some more important stuff on my mind.
Getting back to the subject, I think there is a way to scale she game speed by tempering with the executable. I played Commandos earlier on a slower computer then My current one (but faster then the one in the first post). And then the game ran at a lot faster speed then the GOG version. My guess is that the guys from GOG somehow managed to get the speed factor under control. If they would only share with us where is that hex value that can get the game going slower, with us :D
Well no matter, I have some spare time now so try to figure out what can be done besides using that CpuGrab thingy.

Good Old Games version of Commandos Behind Enemy Lines runs just fine with the right speed that it originally had on the old computers. So if you are nostalgic and want to play this old game on modern computer there is no problem with the GOG version.
From the start I got nostalgic and dug up my old original of the game Commandos Behind Enemy Lines to be able to play it. Didn't manage to get it to work correctly on my more modern computers though since the game ran way to fast. I read several threads created by fans that had the same problem that I had. Tested some programs they recommended but the game still ran very fast. Ended up angry and found this game here on GOG and since it was very cheap and I was tired on wasting hour after hour that didn't got me any results I bought the game here from GOG to check if the speedproblem was fixed.

You could also try a dual-core optimizer from either AMD or Intel from there sites.
