Bought colonization, downloaded it. clicked on the desktop icon - just got the loading music but black screen. By pressing ctrl/alt/del screen gives me partial Colonization screen but unusable because mouse will not interface with game. Running Windows 7 . Uninstalled and re-installed but no different.

In Colonization folder in Start Menu you'll find graphic options setup. Try switching 'surface' to different mode.

Sounds quite familiar. I had to change my display method as well to play the game initially, as was the case with quite a few others. Is there any reason why GOG prefers the 'surface' option in DOSBox? Just curious.
try running as administrator, DOSBox hates being ran as a user and will just crash on launch when it has no admin rights.

This is not true.
There are some games that need to be run as administrator, but that is due to fact that GOG.com decides to install the games in a write protected area (program files). Has nothing to do with DOSBox at all.

Same issue. I feel like this is something that needs to be addressed by GOG. It makes me hesitant to purchase any further games.
