Hi- The listings for these games say windows 7/8 only, but then when I read the side bar on individual games, like cross of iron, it says 7,8,10. Have people got all of these titles working in windows 10 (64 bit)? If so, are there any steps I need to take to get it to work?

thanks for your help

Hi !
The side bar is for the game that you buy itself, the infos on the gamecard in this specific cases (CC games) are for the goodies.

To be absolutely clear..
For what I read on the gamecards, the Close Combat games should be compatible with Win7,8,10 ("Works on:
Windows (7, 8, 10)").
It's the first Close Combat which is given for free as a goodie when you buy a Close Combat game who is supposed to be only compatible with Win7,8 ("Included goodies: Close Combat (Windows 7 / 8 only)" & "Close Combat 5: Invasion: Normandy - Utah Beach to Cherbourg includes a free copy of Close Combat (Windows 7 / 8 only, added as a bonus goodie)" for example).

But be aware that some people (not all) encounters issues for CC2 on win10 for example (see https://www.gog.com/forum/close_combat_series/cc2_ctd_between_campaign_missions and https://www.gog.com/forum/close_combat_series/cc2_crashes_after_first_successful_mission_of_grand_campaign for example), while some others have no issues running the first CC on Win10 (see https://www.gog.com/forum/general/close_combat_windows_7_8_only_free_goodie & https://www.gog.com/forum/general/release_close_combat_second_wave_a7366/post34).
And remember that if you encounter serious technical issues, there is support, and that if they can't solve the issue(s), you should be able to get a refund.

Hope this helps :)

Can you provide some examples of people who have got CC2 to work without issues on Wndows 10? I haven't seen anyone post that it was working for them.

The two links you provided to show that CC1 was working both state that the game runs way too fast under Windows 10. I would suggest that this does not classify the game and those people as having "no issues" in Windows 10.

Well, I may be mistaking and if that's the case I'm sorry. I was only "quoting" what I saw here and there and simply wanted to try to help.
For CC2, I was mostly doing assumptions : GOG said it's compatible with Win10, so it should be tested & mostly working according to their standards, and if not, there's the refund option. A lot of people are silent on forums in general, especially when things are working... so unfortunately no, I haven't this precise examples for now :P (but my guess was logical for me)
But of course, if everyone has issues on Win10, GOG should really actualize description and forget Win10 compatibility promise. But I don't know more about that :P

For CC1, I read a bit fast and sorry for that. I saw mainly that it was running on Win10, and wanted to share where the infos were to enable kpub to go see what were the precise infos in the threads.
Sorry for my mistakes XD

Sorry if it seemed I was getting at you - that wasn't my intent. Just trying to make sure that the correct info is stated.

Regarding CC2, there may well be a lot of people who bought the game that haven't tried to play it yet. I have many games in my library that I have never even installed, let alone tested. Also, I have seen no-one state that they have a solution to the CC2 crashing issue or that GOG support have provided a solution. GOG may have tested the game on an earlier version of Windows 10 and perhaps the latest updates have broken the game. I don't know, all I do know is that a solution has not been posted by any user or by GOG.

Well, I have many games I haven't installed yet, few I suppose won't install till end of my life, but I tried and tested CC3 and CC5. CC3 was easy, simple compatibility test done the trick, single mission worked good (no time for campaign). CC5 was more problematic (error it won't run, because your graphic card bla bla), but it works now, after lil bit of tinkering. I set run in 640x480 screen resolution and it helped me. After today's patch I had to do all again, so I think no more auto-updates. I have Win 10 64 bit with latest updates.
Hello All,

I am running Windows 10 Home Edition, 64 bit and found by running the exe (CC5.exe) under combatibility mode for Win 98 it works fine.

Cheers.
Thanks for the tips

so people are saying, for windows 10 64 bit, no on CC1, no on CC2, yes on CC3, maybe on CC5

What about CC4 or Cross of Iron, or Modern? I must admit, those last 3 are the ones I am most interested in. Do those 3 work in Windows 10?

Anyone have any tips or links to get these games working properly?

I would just hate to buy them and have them not work. Already had that happen a few times

Thanks again for any info

Before I run any new game, I run compatibility troubleshooter on main exe file after installation (right click, properties, compatibility). Earlier I had problems to start older games, but after this very rarely I encounter something, that requires more steps to run. And I play few older games regularly, now I have RRT2, Starcraft (fact, remastered), AoE2, CC5 and few newer ones installed. I like Windows 10, it's much better than Win 95 or example (first OS I had contact with), user can make a lot more errors and everything works. But of course compatibility test.
And that's my opinion, but I sometimes buy game (if I have spare money) for future. Better computer, more free time and so on. I don't play it now, but I will play later.

PS And CC5 works, just finished Uncle Red mission few times.

I now have CC2 working under Windows 10 64-bit v1709 (following a complete reinstall of Windows). More details here : https://www.gog.com/forum/close_combat_series/cc2_ctd_between_campaign_missions/post18

I have the free CC1 running under Windows 10 64-bit, v1709. I haven't played through it very much, so I can't say that it's working perfectly and that there are no bugs, but it is running and I'm playing through the tutorials. I may not have had to do anything, but I set compatibility for 256 colors and Windows XP, Service Pack 3.

Are you running the game fronte a laptop? What is your screen resolution? What CC game are you running?
close combat 2 a bridge too far will not load on windows 10 64 bit C drive
but did on the E drive
i need it to load on the c drive to install the updates
i have tried to change the winzip location to E and it still will not install the updates
