Hi everyone,

I would like to know if there is the way off chance, that this version of the game is a somewhat updated one.

For instance, is the lip syncing in the "enhanced" version of EfBB still as horrible and broken, as in the retail- and steam-version of Dark Athena?
Its kinda sad, since the original EfBB had superb timed lip sync...

Thanks in advance,

Edit:

To clarify things:
By "enhanced version" I do not refer to the GOG version.
Dark Athena contains a graphically enhanced version of EfBB, containing some of the features provided by the updated engine.
Sadly the tradeoff was, due to changes in scripting and timing procedures, lip syncing in the port of the original game was broken.
It was stated multiple times, that this would be fixable. But, as far as I'm aware, neither the retail version, nor the steam release got an update regarding the issue.
My question was, aimed at people who already downloaded the game from GOG, if they could confirm or deny, that the problem was fixed.

Edit2:
Fixed wrong spelling of 'lip sync'

well ... after installing twice because of having to turn off Norton ... game runs sorta sluggy for sure and could very well be my system as I have only a WalMart emachine with an Intel integrated Express 41 graphics chip (even still I run WITCHER much better and that is playable as are 99.5 % of all the games I have gotten from Gog and elsewhere). So, could just be me but * LIP SYNC is WAY OFF ... * as is my cursor drag ... I can't play this even set for XP sp2 and set on LOW QUALITY and even at 640 480 resolution ... so, could be my setup BUT for me LIP SYNC alone is a game play deal- breaker ... way way bad here ....

*** This puter NOT exactly my first choice but when my eMacs died ... well ... off to Walmart and get the best I could afford at the time ... ***

If I had known about the LIP SYNC situation, I would have waited and not jumped at the SALE ... like I said almost EVEYTHING I have bought online works on this computer but a 15 dollar game that works is a Lot better than a 6 dollar game that doesn't ... someday, I will have a better computer and try it again but if the LIP SYNC is a Bug in the game .... well, it makes it unplayable ... for sure ... no entertainment value as you can never get into the game :(

wish I had known about that Possible LIP SYNC Problem ... didn't see diddly on the web about it ...

I bought the game when it came out at retail and I have never had any issues with the lip sync in the game.

Yeah, but the Original before the Enhanced Version that broke the Lip Sync or THIS SAME EXACT VERSION only on disk and retail ?

The enhanced version with Dark Athena at retail. I've bought this one and am currently downloading though so when I have it installed I'll boot it up and have a look to see if thats still the case.

I'm guessing the blood decal bug is still in this version though so here is the fix for that:-

Well, like I said, My present computer is surely not the best and I am surprised at what it CAN Run ... but maybe the ENHANCED version of the game needs a better (faster Processor or something as well as a REAL Graphics Card) ... I don't know, I didn't see any requirements that would make me think it wouldn't run but then again it's the little things like PHYSX (that cripples Graphics in games if you can't run it for whatever reason) I don't know ... Someday I'll play it

Thanks for checking.
Maybe my old rig was to blame back then.

FYI, I just played through the first level in the game and yeah, the lip-synching is definitely off in all of the cutscenes so far, somewhat distractingly so. I'm not sure if maybe my computer config is the reason why I see problems where others here do not.

For reference, I'm running Win XP Pro SP3, Intel dual-core 2.5 ghz, nVidia 9800m GTS (notebook), and onboard sound.

Just checked out the stam version on my current computer.
It's not as bad as I remember, but still off.

Maybe it IS influenced by graphics hardware/processing power after all.

GOG version is still downloading. May be tomorrow, before I can comment on that.

Also for reference:
Win7HP 64bit SP1, Core i5 650@3.2GHz, 6GB DDR3, GeForce8800GTS 320MB

I can confirm that lip syncing is "off" in EfBB - seems like the speech is not properly synchronized to mouth movements. I thought this is because it's an old game.
It must be related to performance because the lip sync for me is perfectly in time, I wouldn't say it's always convincing (think Alan Wake) but its in sync, as it was when I bought the retail 3 year ago. What specs are people using with the sync issues?

I noticed that the speech was slightly ahead of the mouth animations, while playing the first few levels today.

Win 7 64-bit, Intel Core i5-2500K, Radeon HD 6870 ×2.
