Hey guys, I just got the GOG version of this game but I'm getting a dark screen at launch.

The game is still running, I can see text like 'press enter' or 'press escape' in the menus and can still hear sounds.

But it seems I can't get a picture no matter what I do, I actually managed to launch the game and reach the video options (Which are, oddly enough, visible) but no matter what I do the screen is still black when in game

Hello, anyone?

I still don't know why I get this problem.

My computer should be well enough within the limits of running this game

I have an Intel Q6600 and a Radeon 4870 with 4 GB's of ram

Somebody else has to have had this problem.

I haven't run into this problem myself but here are a few questions:
- What Windows version are you using? If it's Vista, 7, or 8 have you tried compatibility settings?
- Which version of Catalyst are you running? You might need to update/downgrade your driver.
- Are other programs running on the background?
- Did this occur on the first launch? If not, it might be due to changing some settings.

Windows 7, have tried compatibility settings

I have catalyst 13.9

No programs in the background, I'm very maticulous and keeping my system clean so that should not be a problem

Yeah, It occured on first launch.

It's pretty weird, I would guess it could be a problem with some old driver still lingering in my system If it wasn't for the fact that its only this game

It is rather curious. I'm running the same catalyst version on Windows 7 so I doubt that its a problem. Since you don't have programs in the background, this isn't the same issue Steam users experience... I'm stumped. I suggest you contact support and see if they can pinpoint an answer.
Did you try playing in a window? You can choose it in the video options. Sometimes a game will have problems in full screen mode, but then they work as they should in windowed mode.

Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling? Or deleting the config files, then restarting?

It's also possible your download was corrupted. Might want to try to re-download and try installing again. I once saw a error message about a file in the gog installer in another game a while ago, which was corrected with a re-download. It's rare, but it can happen sometimes.
are you using a controller?
i would get a black screen after a few minutes of play when using my xbox 360 controller, pressing escape on the keyboard broought the display back.
Using mouse and keys: no black screen after half an hour of play.
