I bought Children of the Nile from during summer sale and I'm really enjoying it. It reminds me of Tropico series and I especially like the very "organic" feel of the gameplay as there is no radius of effect for buildings and the cities start from a group of self-sufficient huts and advance to highly specialized class societies (but people never completely stop hunting and gathering either).
This game is just begging to be put into medieval feudal setting, I have been looking for something like this but every medieval city builder game seems to either concentrate on late medieval/early renaissance (Anno series), aren't just very feudal in nature (Setlers 7), are more concentrated on old-school RTS gameplay (Stronghold) or lack the feudal part completely (Banished).
Children of the Nile's developers are (or at least, were) working on a medieval city builder "Medieval Mayor" but they seem to be moving away from pretty much everything I liked in CotN: 2D instead of 3D and walkers limited to the roads... It's also concentrated on late post-feudal medieval.
So all in all there seems to be plenty of good city builders from Ancient Egypt, Greek and Rome and from Early renaissance to modern times but none on the feudal times (not counting fantasy kingdoms with Disney style feudal setting). Does anyone know if there is a game like this or if there's one in development somewhere?
