Hello folks,

Just wondering; does this games updated just as much than Steam's version? When a new version pops out on Steam, is it coming on GOG Galaxy as well?

Asking this because unfortunately, games on GOG are not always kept updated.

Cheers.
You are welcome to buy it here on gog but you should not expect support and timely updates here. As I said, spending money is no problem at all and is supported, but nothing more.
Just Updated and no notes....

Chernobylite has never missed an update between Steam and GOG usually within minutes are they updated between each other. The latest Megapatch is no exception, and man is it massive.... we are so close to release.. the actual date is hidden in the update ;)
really ??
Well... I saw an update dated November 2020.
I checked on Steam page and.... :

July 8th 2021
Rev 44944 Hotfix

Chernobylite Plasma Thrower should now function properly. I don't know how we could have missed it :/
Crash that appeared on the benchmark when testing high game settings should no longer occur.
Speedrun (you must be REALLY very fast to break it) during power plant level should no longer block the game during the inventory tutorial.
Some weapon accessories were levitating in the air. We fixed it.

well well.... I'm a patient gamer now... But if we don't get the updates months after the release
n Steam ... i'm not sure if I want to buy my games on GOG.
Maybe I'll look into this game ... in few years, when the game will be completely fixed...
Updates on GOG and Steam are handled by the game developer. For instance, with Larian's BG3 the GOG updates through Galaxy are pushed out on the same day Larian pushes out the Steam updates--no exceptions. So whether you get updated quickly on GOG is entirely up to the game developer and is no deficiency from buying a game on GOG.

The only exception might be if you wait for the stand-alone patches to appear on GOG instead of using Galaxy. The manual, stand-alone patches always take longer than the Galaxy updates before being made available--usually only a day or so (Steam offers no equivalent to GOG's stand-alone patching and game exe's. GOG provides you with your own individual executable game copy--and that is something Steam does not provide at all.)

As well, with GOG you are guaranteed no DRM--with Steam, it varies with the wishes of the game developer. Some games require Steamworks running, some games will run from their exe's without Steamworks having to run at all.

Last entry in the changelog file in this thread is June 3 2021--which is much better than November 2020. These changelogs are are not always complete, so I wouldn't be surprised if the GOG version was just like the Steam version.
SteamDB and GOGDB give you an idea when new builds were pushed for the game on the respective stores.

The update history is kinda confusing here, but I think the gist of it is that the devs have brought over most of the major updates, many even on the same day as they were released on Steam. Though unless I'm mixing up the version numbers, the "Game Quality Improvement Pass 1" arrived on GOG more than two weeks late and that one sounds like an important update.

Steam did receive a bunch of versions in-between, however, which never made it to GOG as separate builds. So assuming that this update behaviour does not change after the 1.0 release yesterday, I think it's safe to assume that the devs will only release the "big milestone builds" on GOG, not the individual hotfixes in-between.

Seems to be missing some cosmetic DLC.

I also asked where the OST is and they said in game, so doubt we'll see a soundtrack release.

Not buying another Russian game without a playable demo.

You're in luck, then - the devs are Polish :D

Joking aside, I'd advise anyyone interested in this game to hold off on buying until we have a clear picture of how well the game is supported with patches/content on GOG post-launch.

It's also worth pointing out that the game was released with two DLCs on Steam - the cosmetic DLC mentioned by Swissy88 and the artbook DLC (there's no OST, even on Steam). The devs realeased the artbook on GOG but not the cosmetic DLC, for whatever reason. Also, the store page suggests that a number of languages as well as features like cloud saves aren't supported on GOG.

Well, technically... :P
And yeah, I know the OST isn't available anywhere. Not sure which is worse, when they don't release it on gog, or don't package one at all. Probably 5 games released this week with no OST packaged, boggles my mind.

It does look quite nice, I will be waiting to see how it pans out with the full release here and updates.
