If I want to play an online multiplayer campaign, do all participants need to have the Charterstone app? Or I can I host and so the other players do not need a copy of the app?

I'm rather curious to know this too. Is this another "need to create an account with someone and register a copy of the game to it thing? Or just a generic account to facilitate matchups? I pretty much just want to play LAN games, though.
