If I attempt to save the game using File->Save it hoses after the save and keeps popping up a dialog telling you it's running "funky"

If I restart the game and attempt to load a saved game I get the same message and it just hoses and I have to kill it from task manager.

Running on windows 7 x64.
hey, that used to happen to me on the old version! Hell was it annoying. The GOG version runs ok for me, though.
I experience the same problem running the game on Win 7 x64.
I used to have that problem with my old version, but the GOG version saves work fine for me. You are using the updated installer that patched the game to v. 1.1?
Thanks Azilut for your answer.
I tried re-download and re-instal the game but I'm afraid v. 1.1 didn't solve the problem.
Actualy, I can safely play the game as long as I don't save or load anything.

I remember having that issue in an older version. When saving, try and save in the same directory as the .exe file (should be something like C:\Program Files\Gog\Chaos Overlords).

To be honest, I don't know why Gog doesn't just get the original source code and fix these bugs. I know the original author is happy to give it to them...
Yes, it seems to work when saving in the same directory as the .exe.
Thank you !

Saving in the directory where the .exe is also worked for me, thanks!

For anyone wondering, placing the old save file into the *.exe directory works, too
