I want to get a feel for this game to see if I want to buy it. What are the game's strong qualiies? What does this game lack? Overall, is it worth a buy?
It's quite simple to control, easy to get into, but gets quite tough in the later levels.
Don't expect all your men to make it!
I really liked it way back when, and have just bought it now. This should mean that the second game should be available at some point.
Its definitely worth a buy
Its got surprising levels of depth for an arcadey shooter, you end up caring if your troops die, the between mission screens show the graveyard for your fallen troops, its got a subtle sense of humour, theres interesting mission types, there's varied terrain including slippery ice and dangerous quicksand, you occasionally get vehicles and its maddeningly addictive.
Its not as pretty as many games and the music can be a bit grating but its hardly a deal breaker. The intro video was also flickery for me but that could well be a hardware thing

I would say yes, but expect to get frustrated with it's puzzle-like difficultly in later levels. I broke the mouse on my Amiga because of this game, so I'm being very careful not to get angry when using my £40 Razor Mouse >.<
I think I might wait on this one. I will currently get Beyond Good and Evil, but may come back to this one in the future. Thanks for the info guys.
Between those two BG&E wins hands down, IMO it doesnt have to get out of bed to beat any game but thats another story.
I made a fool of myself getting this one but I remembered it fondly from the Amiga days and forgot that all games back then where way better on the Amiga.
I bought it, and have enjoyed it so far. Though I really should get rid of my perfectionist tendencies - it's annoying to have to restart a four-level mission just because I can't accept the loss of my dear Jools...

It's true, the Amiga versions were always better, and Cannon Fodder is no exception, but the only actual difference between the Amiga and PC versions (that I'm aware of) is the sound.
Hell to the yes, personally.
