This game used to work for me even earlier this month, but upon launching it I get the Direct X error: "Your Video Card Must Support 16 Bits Per Pixel at a Resolution of 800x600" and the game refuses to launch. I don't believe I've had any windows updates since then, though I have had an Nvidia Driver update which may be related. I also had to repair the files in the game due to a drive disconnect causing GOG not to recognize my games in E:/ until I rescanned them, so either one might be the culprit. My install is un-modded, the only thing I've done to help the game run more smoothly is installing video codecs so I can view the cutscenes which worked fine earlier. Any ideas on what I should do here?

Edit: The game was previously running at 1080p. Going to try forcing compatibility and resolution options to see if that changes anything.

Hello! What operating system are you using? I just tried the modded version and unmodded version and it loaded fine on the 64 bit verion of windows 10.
I'm using Windows 10 64bit home on the most recent non-insider update available. It worked fine for me beforehand, besides the video codec and mouse issues everyone seems to have, until I tried it today. I'm on a laptop with a 7th Gen Intel i7 and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050

I'm not sure its my operating system unless the newest update broke something. My guess is that its either my graphics card driver or the fact that my install had to be repaired and my user settings had it at 1080p and it seems from other forums replies that the game doesn't like to do its first launch at high resolutions.

Edit: tried using compatibility settings for Windows XP Service Pack 2 and 3 as well as forcing lowres and 16-bit color. Going to try a clean install and see how that works.

EDIT WITH SOLUTION: The only thing that ended up working for me was a clean uninstall and reinstall, including the removal of any user files. I still think it was having to repair the game after I had already increased the resolution in my settings. If this is true then it might be possible to edit the user config to lower the resolution rather than a reinstall. So if anyone else has this issue in the future that's what worked for me. Editing userprofile.txt in /Call To Power 2/cpt_2program/ctp might also work. You can also enable Redbook audio this way as found on a nether forum post.
