I just finished it. I'm not the fastest player in general or the best puzzle solver for that matter (and I tried avoiding the hint system), so it took me 8 1/2 hours to complete it. I actually thought it was pretty lengthy for an episodic game, especially compared to something like Telltale's "The Walking Dead", where each episode is only around 2-3 hours.
I was delighted to see that Revolution Software returned to form with this one, as I thought that BS 4 was rather horrible – maybe not per se, but definitely as a game bearing the BS name. But now they got it right again!
I think it's fantastic in every respect. Whether it be art style, characters, pacing, or dialog.
I wasn't too fond of the 3D-characters-against-drawn-backgrounds-concept when I had first seen some trailers, but I was surprised to see how well those two styles merge.
I actually feared that Revolution would water down the experience to appeal to the casual gamer crowd, but I was proven wrong:
This is a no-bells-no-whistles, classic point 'n' click adventure, paying tribute to the 1990s heydays of the genre.
If they can keep that kind of level with the 2nd episode I might very well consider this to be the best game in the series since BS 2.
