Just wanted to add my two cents as a new customer. The only reason I found GOG.com is because I followed the link over from the Scummvm website when I was looking for the Broken Sword series. I would love to buy all 3 (well, 4 eventually), but as a newcomer to the series, I'm certainly not going to start with number 2. Especially when I can get a double pack with 1 & 2 online at a pretty reasonable price. Of course, I have to wait for the mail....
That said, I placed my first order with GOG (In Cold Blood), and their system rocks from what I've seen so far. I'll definitely be using the service often, and would love it if I could get the entire BS series through them.
I will definitely buy Broken Sword 1 once it's available on GOG. I bought the 2 and 3 already, I've finished 1 few years back, just want to own it. I'd like to see 4 on GOG too. Broken Sword is a great series that I enjoy a lot, we don't see many adventure games nowadays, which is unfortunate. :(
You really should play the first one first. I'd look on eBay or something if I didn't already have it - I doubt it will be available here in quite a while because of those Wii and DS versions that were just released.
I wouldn't bother with those, btw - they are 'Director's Cut' versions with some extra stuff added - but the way they added it makes the original superior. They ruin much of the feel of the original game. And they have some silly extra 'puzzles' designed for the Wiimote (sliding puzzles and crap like that).
So I'd definitely get the PC version on eBay or something like that.
Damn thats disappointing to hear, do they not have the option of playing the original version as well?
With any luck, they'll agree to let GOG sell #1 in a few months after the ninty version's sales level out
Yea from what Ive seen, I say go for the PC version as well.
Well the Wii and DS versions release this week, as far as I can tell.
Hopefully this means in a month or so GOG will be able to get it released on here, once they have their 0-day sales on the other platforms.
Hopefully but I suspect it might take a bit longer.
I also hope they'll release Broken Sword 4 here, so the entire series is available from GoG.
And I hate the SecuROM protection on my DVD copy of the game.

I hate the fact my laptop just lacks the grunt to play it smoothly. Sadly nothing GOG can do will fix that.
Well unless they're in the "give away a sweet gaming computer" mood... I wouldn't complain, honest...
Apparently, if Broken Sword 1 for Wii is a success, they're planning to remake the 2nd as well.
But the most interesting, it's that they're also planning to remake the 3rd and the 4th, in 2D! Could be great.
I admit that I've never been really interested by BS titles in 3D. I remember the first time I've seen Stobart pushing a crate in the 3rd, I were thinking "oh no, they make it in 3D, so we have to play as it was a Tomb Raider...".
Oh, and a remake of Beneath a Steel Sky is also planned. If BS1 Wii is a success, that is...

There is a bit of an old tomb raider feeling to it (but sadly lacking the mobility lara could use to jump to the next section rather than move loads of boxes) but the game really is good enough to justify putting up with the annoying box puzzles

To be honest, the real problem for me is the 3D. I'm not an anti-3D, but I love the graphic style used in BS1 and BS2. In comparison, when I look the 3D in BS3, suddenly, I see no graphic style anymore, just a 3D that can be seen in many other games.
Sometimes, I really hate to see the 2D treated just like a part of the evolution of game graphics, as it was not an artistic choice.
That said, I really think I will play BS3 and 4 some day. If the story and the characters are good, that sould be immersive enough to have fun with it.

I suspect that a lot of people may have agreed with you there, BS4 was a lot more like the first 2 than the 3rd was, 4 felt like a 2D game with a few concessions to being 3D rather than a game that tried to do what may have been the wrong thing for the style of game.
I still love 3 and am glad I own it but it would be the low point of the series for the box puzzles and the few areas where pure 3D without a mouse pointer just didn't quite work
