MonkfishEsq: Yeah. It really is amazing of them to have gog and gamersgate promote their game and on the day of release go behind their backs to release it on the humble bundle for basically FREE with full soundtracks and steam keys.

Amazingly shitty.
yeah i know, strangest thign though: the lasrgest contribuor to the humble bundlöe pack is GOG... why would they support that? u can see largest paying contributrs just check

Because I assume that they gave that $300 to the charity only and gave the developers nothing which is what they deserve.

WANTING TO SUPPORT THE DEV BY PREORDERING THEIR GAME = BEING A TERRIBLE IMPATIENT PERSON

HA! hope so, must ask them in person:P
STill - botanicula is a great game, something far from normal these days so dont go to mad - for your own sake. This game has to be experienced

I cannot stand those people. In former times they were waiting in line at the game shop to get the newest release of C&C Tiberian Sun. Nowadays they pre-order as soon as possible and overload the download servers on release date.
Now _this_ is what you got for your impatience. So shut up complaining, it is how it is. Play the game and be happy! :)
You know, there's a difference between preordering a big AAA game and preordering a game by a small developer of known people. You're directly supporting them.

Of course, I guess that's a good reason to just undercut everyone immediately. You don't even get the games from the Bundle in GOG, just the game.

SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL INDIE GAME DEVELOPERS

In truth, it's GOG and Gamersgate who get the shaft here, too, having put up lots of money for advertising only to have this happen behind their backs. Amanita Design, what the hell is wrong with you?
Guys and girls... seriously. It's $10. Thats only like a fiver if you are in the UK. I've paid $10 on GOG and after finding out about the bundle, I paid another $10 but sent the majority of the bundle money to the charity. So I have paid approx. £10 for a few games and sent my contribution to charity.

Quit whining and just get both. The donation to charity saves trees, and since they make us a large amount of our oxygen, I don't feel so bad about helping them :) You know it doesn't hurt you if it's that little money. I'm on minimum wage and can afford it :)
Congratulations on not understanding and completely missing the point on why people are angry.

Yes of course, there is a difference, because there is no big publisher or sponsor behind those games. But just alone being an indie game doesn’t change this situation. You paid the pre-order only three or four weeks before the planned release. It doesn’t matter if you pay then or pay now – the game was ready and the release date fixed. The only advantage from the pre-order is on your side: you saved money (or at least, in this case, you thought you would save money). Do not be a hypocrite and say something about supporting poor indie developers with a pre-order three weeks before release.

If you want to support the devs, buy alpha versions on Desura. That will help developing, keep it on a run, motivate the people behind any unfinished game idea. Or you could have said, you pay the full price when Botanicula is released and support the devs even more. Or you buy the Humble Bundle additionally to your preorder with any price you want.

Take it as it is: a pre-order is a mechanism to attract more people into buying a game. If some people complain now about being tricked, they should not have been so impatient.

Consider buying the Humble Bundle but giving all of your purchase to the charity and HIB staff (i.e. $0 to the developers).

If they are going to undercut GOG on day 1 then they deserve to be taught a lesson about the importance of honest business...
I'm disappointed with GOG and the developers, both, actually. With GOG because I forgot before splashing down my money that they don't package Linux versions of their games (not that it matters too much - all of Amanita's games are Flash, which is cross platform). But it's just strange not to have Linux (and OSX) compatible version available when it is, uh, available. I don't know what to say about the Humble Bundle thing - it's both confusing and disappointing.

Oh, and if you're reading this it's probably already too late, but GOG's refund policy for games that are already out is that you can exchange it for another game of similar value (I have no idea if you can exchange it for another $9.99 game if you got the $1 preorder discount) IF you have not downloaded the game and any of the bonus contents.

So apparently I just screwed my chances at getting a refund by downloading some of the bonus stuff beforehand. Ugh.

Yes. WOW

Thanks gog. This is really costumer friendly! I love Witcher, and really was hoping for Botanicula's Soundtrack.

Your ROCK :D

Me (customer) = VEEEERY HAPPY!
It was a bit of a mix up overall, but i don't think the Botanicula release mess is too big a deal. I decided to get it from both Humble and GoG, paying less at humble than i would normally. Even though i didn't pre-order on GoG, so missed the witcher offer, i'm just happy to support good game devs and good DD systems. I also help grow some trees into the bargin so it's win from all angles :)

And a response from the Amanita design team over the whole thing:
