Download the latest version of xbox 360 controller emulator and you can play it with a d input joystick.

Regarding x360ce, I needed to place the x360ce 64-bit version into the \BloodstainedRotN\Binaries\Win64 directory to get it working.

As stupid as it is, I've been launching the GoG build from Steam. Their controller shim ain't too bad. I have had RotN get stuck in a "plug your controller back in" state when my DS4 went to sleep, sooo suspend if you're stepping away for a long snack break.
