It's been bugging me for a while: is it possible, at all, to remove the rather bizarre censorship in the game? We already have explicit references to Nazis, the SS and various other Third Reich elements, making the absence of swastikas and SS runes is rather bizarre.

It's so much more... Satisfying to cut off the legs of a Nazi soldier and listen to him scream, when he's wearing actual Nazi insignia. The triskelion is just bizarre.

Huh, I was not aware that there was censorship.
I don't think there are any fixes for what you claim.

I guess it makes sense that they wouldn't use the swastika, because they are part of a clandestine branch of the Third Reich, but yeah, that is strange.

In some countries, it would be illegal (like Germany) so that is the likely reason. Don't know of any fixes although my gut reaction is that a skins artist would have no trouble doing that.
I've actually edited all the skins to that effect, but can't get the damn POD to work. Anyone know how to create a BR1 archive?
I did a bit of searching, and there actually isn't any censorship.
For example, late in the game you will fight 2 High Ranking Nazis who do wear the swastika.
The Nazi officers also have that skull symbol on their caps, and the iron cross is used several times.

It could be that TRI just chose not to drape the Swastika everywhere (which makes sense as you are fighting the G.G.G, who have their own set of imagery. See Hydra from the Captain America movie for reference) rather than flatout censorship.

Other than the absence of the Swastika, the soldiers still look rather nazi-ish.

It should be possible to add in the extra stuff, but sadly it seems Bloodrayne is quite mod unfriendly.
This might help though.

The Xbox version and pre-release renders show a mix of regular swastikas with the GGG triskelion. This is only logical, as the GGG is still operating under the authority of the German state (and as far as I can tell, the cuff band implies it's a division of Waffen-SS).

The setting is pretty anachronistic, though. Stg-44s in 1938?

Well, crap, now I feel silly.
Pity there's no uncensored version for the PC copies.

Yeah, there are a few anachronisms in the game.
Then again, its not a really realistic or serious game.
Realism went out the window when daemites started showing up. And Mecha. And that Giant Spider Queen thing. And Vampires with mouths in their hands....

This is disappointing. It would have been nice if the store page had mentioned this version was censored. Its sad since this isn't the only game on gog which is the censored version.

I would agree if there was an uncensored PC version but there wasn't ever an official uncensored PC release of the game.
It is possible to get br1 uncensored by putting .pod files with the original textures in the game directory and edit the PCPOD.INI to let the game use the original textures instead of the censored ones. Maybe you can still find those files in a forum if you do some digging. You may have more luck in german forums ;)

Hmmm I'm not aware of censorship, however if it IS censored in one language vs another, then you could:

1) Download the english version, install it
2) Download the censored-in-your-language version, install it
3) copy the relevant POD files from the english version to your version (pcart, pcmodel, pcset?).

In theory if the POD archives in those only contain models and textures, then censorship should go away. But I'm guessing and haven't tried this.
Was there EVER an uncensored version of BR on pc?? As far as I know only ps2 versions had swastika textures.

Actually it's the exact opposite, the game is quite moddable. I have experience in modding the game myself, so it's pretty real to extract the textures from the ps2 version and put them back into the game. Sadly, no one's done it before, if I had the ps2 version, probably I could have done it myself. It never really bothered bothered me that the swastica in the game is a little bit "different" . I mean, we all know what it is, even if it look different.

Could someone reupload uncut mod v.1.1 for BloodRayne 1? I'm curious how the game was supposed to look originally. All the links are dead.

Edit: ok, I've found it. One of the links wasn't really dead ;)
