Ticklefist: Unpack the .rar to get the .zip file but keep the .zip file unpacked and place it in your game directory.

Edit: As for the Extended HD packs, go for it. No point in going halfway if you don't have to.

Shoelip: The problem is that there are two seperate zip files with the same name. for each "Act". Act 1 part 1 and Act 1 part 2 both contain a rar archive called HD0100, and Act 2 Parts 1 and 2 both contain a file called HD0200.
Just unpack Part 1. This will automatically unpack both parts 1 and 2 leaving you with one file. There is no need to unpack Part 2 by itself.

Ah, sweet. Got it working now. Thanks!
So does this cover the whole game and is compatible with the GOG version? Looks handy.

Only first two acts, and should be compatible.
Only the first two? That's a pity.
Is the third act going to be done?
Never, I think ! The creator gave up !

Can hardly blame him, getting the mod where it is now cost him several years and an ungodly amount of work.

Ah that's sad to hear.
I can understand though; by the sounds of it, the coding is a pain in the ass (not sure if that means the game is well coded or poorly coded xD), and the due to the small size of the fan base, there's just not enough people to appreciate his work.

Time to blame Uwe Boll again...

Neither. What he means is that half the problem is that he doesn't have access to the game's source code to begin with (if he had it, it would be another story entirely).
The patch works by hooking into the game engine and redirecting calls made to the DirectX 8 API to its' own code. This both takes quite a bit of trickery to achieve and limits what can be done with that approach.
I see. I completely misunderstood that.
Which just shows how much I know about coding >.<
