My initial reaction is - too much is being read into this. They updated their Facebook cover page with an image relevant to the current holiday.

My deep seated personal hopes, however, follow along the lines of - "Please, let it be related to something good. Blood or otherwise."

I couldn't express that better.

But the thing is that this cover page completely repeats blood trail from the box art of Blood's shareware edition.

Good catch! That's definitely it. See here: https://i.imgur.com/1hAsdWS.png (Leftmost: EU shareware cover art, middle: Night Dive's title image, Rightmost: US shareware cover art)

But, what are they doing? Did they get hold of the source code and now work on a proper modern source port?

I know what it's from, that doesn't really change my first reaction.

At the same time, the rest of my response is still true - I truly want to believe something good is going to come from it. Currently the biggest announcement they made was the dropping of two films onto Steam and Stephen Kick concluding his 31 day game highlight.

Possibly nothing or something. The whole idea of this being some stealth way of them announcing that they finally worked something out for Blood is hard not to be skeptical about, especially when past announcements (not specifically from Night Dive) concerning Blood have been little more than burns about things that could've (but never) happened.
Fingers crossed!
