Hey guys. So I never played the original, and while the game is fun, I'm not sure how to deal with the zombie melee enemies. They deal a lot of damage and if I shoot them they get back up! Do you have to kill them with the pitchfork for them to stay down? Dynamite seems to work, but it's not always available and hard to aim with.
What do I do?

They will only get back up 2 or 3 times at most, and a both-barrels shotgun shot will often take them out, and the tommy gun I think always makes them not get back up. You will soon learn to instinctively tell whether they're gonna get back up by the scream sound effects; the gonna-get-back-up screams and the down-for-good screams are distinct.

Thx, you are right, the screams are indeed different. I'm still dying a lot though, this game is really hard lol. I'm now in that train station thing with lots of civilians and enemies. I die instantly once I set foot in there, need to figure something out haha.
I use a pitchfork on only 1 or 2 zombies, anymore than that and it's grenade time.

You must be careful in this game versus the cultists because they will pincushion you in a second. I sneak around when I can and shotgun them when I see just a bit of their bodies.

Yes, the hitscan cultists also give me a hard time.. does sneaking actually work in this game?
I feel like in this game you often need to know in advance where the enemies are , so you can dynamite them around corners..

On the higher difficulties, that's correct unfortunately. I suggest starting with "Lightly broiled" for a good challenge and to learn the level's layout and enemy placement, then going higher up to "Well done" and so on.
The "Made to Order" difficulty also lets you set the accuracy of the enemies yourself, so you can have the cultists miss occasionally.

I'm playing it with the scaling set to the easy mode settings, but high enemy counts. Makes for a pretty intense experience still, and to compensate for the lower accuracy I've made them a little more aggressive.

Play around with "Made to Order", you might find a setup that feels great.
