I think the lack of music in some places just really adds to the Creepyness of the atmosphere

which is one of the reasons that I think makes blood very unique - it's Atmosphere and feel :)
The lack of music is also a very good thing. That works well in movies too.

Sargon: The lack of music is also a very good thing. That works well in movies too.
Other games like Demon's souls also utilized this extremely well :)
