Yes I did try disabling the directX 6 commands. I can get it started but as soon as the train goes dark, I get a BEX error.

Of all the games I've played on GOG this is the most troubled. It really needs some patching.

Agreed.

Not to be cheeky, but you could always play it in software render mode. It'll still crash occasionally, but it was a lot easier to get working.

The game has always been crash happy. Especially when it was first released.

Monolith got sloppy with Blood 2 and rushed it out the door. It's rather unfinished.

Does the crashing still keep happening w/ the updated Blood II GOG installer 2.0.0? It's gotta be fixed ASAP.

I've just bought/launched the game and I can confirm that the game not only gives me the worst frame rate I've encountered on my new high-end PC, but it also crashes after the train explosion-fade out event. Wish I'd checked the forums before I bought the game...

Windows 8 is beyond my level of understanding. Still, it probably won't hurt to go through the check list.

1. Affinity. B2 has a need for one core and one core only. Compatibility mode may not be enough, you might want to look for a 3rd party program that forces the use of one cpu core.

2. Administrator rights. Installing b2 somewhere besides the program files is wise, just be on the safe side and have admin. rights as well.

3. Compatibility mode. This one has been devalued as a solution to b2 problems but might as well try it. Win 95 to xp are recommended, with xp getting the most complements. Don't forget to turn off advanced text services and disabling visual themes- if 8 even has that option.

4.Advanced options. DirectX6 commands should be diabled, so should pixel doubling. Within the command line you might try Maxfps- 30, or 70, or some other number.

Did all that, it kinda helped, but the game is kind of terrible. First one is much better.
