I've finished Blood a fair few times now, and I've played through alot of the Blood Launchers maps... Anyone got any new ones?
I made many maps for this game years ago, including a 'Dawn of the Dead' map (2 storey mall map with roof top, machine room, crawl spaces, two floor department store, gun store etc.) and an 'Omega Man' map (complete with movie theatre, townhouse, hotel, park etc.) amongst others. I'd love to play them, but I am not sure how to play individual levels using DOS Box. If anyone could enlighten me, I'd be happy to try and share them (they're currently on floppy disc!).

I would like to know how to play individual maps using dosbox as well. Anyone?

Hi, been a long time since I chcked here, so forgive this tardy reply...
<The following is from a reply someone gave me>

To play your Maps, it is recommended to install the Blood Launcher. Visit the makers Website or the forum sticky, for instructions on how to install all the necessary Launcher files. (This may seem a lot of work at first, but it makes things easier in the long term)

Website: http://blood.nanoaugur.net/
Click on the "How to Install..." link.

Depending on where you install the Blood Launcher, copy your Maps into the "MAPS" folder.

For example on my PC, I created a folder labelled "Blood Launcher" in the main GOG Directory, and unzipped all the Launcher files into this folder. E.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Blood Launcher

Then navigate to C:\...\Games\Blood\MAPS
E.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Blood Launcher\Games\Blood\MAPS

Place your Maps in here. Then run the Blood Launcher and click on the "Configs & Maps" Icon. Select a Map from the list displayed on the right and click on "LAUNCH THE MAP"

<End of original advice>
Pretty much as above. If something does not work properly, then do 'Run as Administrator' and it usually works. I have managed to get old maps working through this and the launcher itself is excellent. When time permits, I still hope to upload some maps, so if there is a good way/place to do this, please let me know.

Best of luck!
Can I repeat the earlier question of how you launch custom maps *without the launcher*.

I used to make Blood levels and am working on some new ones. The problem is, I can't remember how to launch them. I remember playing Blood first time round and vaugely remember there was some blue screen application like "setup" that functioned as a map launcher. Can anyone recall what this is and/or tell me where I get it (it appears not to be part of the GOG version).

NB: I really have no interest in using the launcher and after already wasting hours trying to get it working and I have made my own dosbox.conf files and shortcuts for each variant of blood I use, plus mapedit, etc.. :)

Bonus Incentive: If your answer helps me solve this, I'll give you a shout out in my first new map. :)

You don't use setup.exe to specify a map you want to launch Blood with. You are probably thinking of how to launch a Bloodbath. You want to use the command line switches for Blood.exe

In the [autoexec] section of your dosboxBlood.conf file, use the blood.exe switches -ini or -map to specify episode or map you want to run.

so for a single map:
blood.exe -map yourMapName.map

or for an episode:
blood.exe -ini yourEpisode.ini

Hope that helps.

Addendum: GoG has updated the One Unit Whole Blood installer and has changed the way it referenced the DOSBox conf files. The [Autoexec] section can now be found in the dosboxBlood_single.conf or dosboxBlood_addon.conf (for Cryptic Passage) files.

Perfect; exactly what I was after and works as I remember. :-)

Thanks ever so much. Would you like to be credited as DustyStyx in the first level I release, or something else?

NB: It will likely will take me a couple of months to get back up to speed with Build and make something worthy of sharing, but I'll bump this thread when it's done.

If you haven't played Death Wish yet you really should. Not to pimp my buddy's work too hard to anything but it's a damn quality experience: https://secure.gog.com/forum/blood_series/death_wish_a_new_30_level_user_made_expansion_for_blood
