This is a must have for those who want to play the game on modern hardware.
Download here: https://verokster.blogspot.com/2018/05/legacy-of-kain-blood-omen-gl-wrapper.html
Fixes & features:

Game runs on modern PC (Windows 7/8/10)
Game runs with 60 FPS speed
Game renders via OpenGL 1.1/3.0. If your GPU supports OpenGL 3.0 - game uses it. If no - game uses OpenGL 1.1
Removed CD check and game can run now without CD. (see "Installation" section)
Removed system restriction for 4 languages (Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Thai)
When switching display modes (F12), the game does not crash now
When switching display into "Eagle Eye" (F6), the game does not crash now
Camera zoom is working now, not only for 320x240 mode (like on PS1), but for 640x480 too
Camera can follow by Kain movement like in PS1 version
Added feature to run and switch the game into windowed mode
Added feature to switch on/off filtering
Corrected rendering speed for Nosgoth map and Kain's inventory menu
Added configuration window on startup, similar to Soul Reaver. To disable it - launch the game with command parameter "-noconfig"
Added FPS counter
Implemented subtitles engine
Implemented 3D sounds via OpenAL
Implemented XInput support with gamepad vibrations
Arrows keys are duplicated on WSAD keys
Intro movies and cutscenes are now played in progressive mode
Cutscenes and flights movies are encoded with better quality
Game can play stereo sound files for cutscenes
Added HQ Sound Patch - sound files from PS1 version. Thanks to NobelGas
Added modified installer from original CD, which help you install game from CD on modern PC together with this patch
I wouldnt call it a must...I personally fixed the game just by converting its DX7 code to DX12...it does a lot of the same fixes

tho my method does lack the subtitles engine.

Can you patch it so it doesn't need the cd version and use the gog paid version?I found a way to do it with out needing the cd,just copy the contents of the KainGL_1.72_MULTI11_FullPackage without the setup.exe in the Kain main folder where it's been installed.

Sooo...how are we going to use this if we don't have the disc image?

You don't need the disc image to use it. The Setup there is just so those who have the disc version could install it without any hassle, otherwise just unpack the archive's content into the game's folder and say "Yes" to overwriting the files and then you're good to go.

Verok's patch does.

Yup, I can confirm it works. I'm still curious to see if Verok's future upgrade on this patch might bring other improvements as well.

Thank you very much for this post!
Verok just updated his patch and now it's fully compatibel with the GOG version.
This is probably a minor problem in the scheme of things, but still annoying nonetheless. Verok's patch breaks the native PS4 controller support that the GOG version has. That is, a PS4 controller will just work straight out of the box with the GOG version. With this patch applied, the game no longer natively recognises the PS4 controller, meaning you need to run an application like DS4Windows to trick the game into thinking it's an Xbox controller.

No. It's working. It is an issue on your end.

Nope, you're wrong. Sorry. The issue is most definitely with the patch and how he has implemented XInput compatibility.

Install game through GOG, press Play without any modifications = PS4 controller works natively. Game recognises it immediately and can be used to control menus, buttons can be remapped in the control menu.

Apply Verok's patch, press Play = PS4 controller no longer works natively. Can't control menus, can't remap buttons in the control menu. Game doesn't even detect there's a controller plugged in anymore. Same thing happens if I just launch the game with the Kain.exe file.

The only way to use a PS4 controller after applying the patch is to run an application such as DS4Windows in the background that makes the computer think it's an Xbox controller, or at least a controller that supports XInput.

I'm assuming the reason it's working for you is because you're already running one of these XInput applications that you've possibly forgotten is even running (maybe it automatically runs on startup?).

If you go into the control options and cycle through the default options until it shows the Playstation icons does that do anything?

Can't cycle through anything in the controls menu, it only shows the keyboard key mapping. Joystick button column is empty. Pressing left and right arrow keys does nothing. As I said, the game doesn't even detect there's a controller plugged in anymore.

After applying the mod, the only way I can use a PS4 controller is by running an application in the background that makes the PC think it's an XInput controller. Which isn't a huge deal admittedly, I need to do this for many other games in order to use my PS4 controller. It's just annoying that in this case, the game actually detects the controller natively and it works perfectly out of the box, but this mod breaks it.
