Alex7GOG: Original CD version has 40 PFS timing, due to incorrect timing realization.
Also the CD version has timing problems with Inventory animation, World Map and Eagle Eye. To be clear it doesn't have timing at all. All animations there are very fast on nowaday CPUs.
GOG has fixed and added timing with 30 fps for Inventory, World Map and Eagle Eye. But the rest of the game still has the same 40 fps speed.
So, the game runs on 40 fps and Inventory, World Map and Eagle Eye - 30 fps.
Verok's patch has 60 fps speed for whole game, same as PS1
You test FPS\timing limits(cycles) on actual Windows OS from actual game (CD, with authentic DRM CD-check exe?) or on nowadays WindowsNT OS?
I didnt test every solutions online. I know some of them remove zoom option with removing 240p resolution - and that is wrong. Zoom originally available exactly in 480p mode.
So this solutions online - they from not lamers of course. But some mistakes happened. GOG not lamers as well, and again - mistakes happened, as well.
So only Verok\DxWnd\dege\narzoul\etc and they forks wrappers is best solutions - without modding exe\any files.
And GOG wrapper is a good tweak-tool too. Most builds of it can be used for many old games.
