I have not bought either of them yet. Should I just pass one and buy 2? Is there much difference in them? I do not want the buy the same game for slightly better graphics, I usually prefer turn based than RTS.

I definitely don't agree that both games are exactly the same in gameplay. The first one is mainly about smaller and slower actions with only a few units (with significant numerical superiority on enemy's side, of course). You get 3 tanks and 3 artillery guns in the beginning, you can upgrade them, and later you can them double. Only in historical missions you can command larger numbers of units. Each of your unit gains experiences during the fight, so you don't want to lost any of them. I remember I rather restarted a mission instead of losing my beloved tanks :). The second Blitzkrieg is far more about bigger battles and faster actions with many unavoidable casualties on both sizes. Gameplay is different also thanks to reinforcement system (similar to AoE III) and "small" missions preceding to historical mission are much more variable and interesting than in the first game.

I didn't really say that. Well, if you focus on the word "gameplay" only, I actually said it, but even that is correct: The way you play both games is the same. Some new support options don't change that. Other than that I tried to describe that Blitzkrieg 2 is the better game, because of many different reasons. Overall the developers improved what has worked well in the first Blitzkrieg, while cutting off (some) ballast.

You also have to focus on the initial questions: "I have not bought either of them yet. Should I just pass one and buy 2? Is there much difference in them?" For a person new to this series, you can't argue with existing differences between those two games, that you will only recognize, when you have played both of them. If someone truely loves this series, of course he should play Blitzkrieg 1 and 2! But you can still do that after having started with the second one, which in my opinion remains being the better game by far.

I just wanted to point out that in my opinion these games are really different from each other. Even the way you play them are different, that's my impression.

As it is currently at -50% of its regular price, buying both solves the matter as I have the 2 full versions for the price of 1....
It is actually impossible to say which one is best for you as ... you are you and have your own feelings and style.

I've bought the first one 3 weeks ago and I'm still playing it! It's really a great game, haven't felt that amusement for long.

I don't know the second one, but it's true the first one is far from being an arcade game. Most of the time patience and terrain reconnaissance are the 2 key aspects of the game to win.

Even when you think you have the high ground, you find yourself losing an entire squad of heavy tanks just because you didn't take the time to properly plan your attack, which I like coz' it feels more realistic that way.

I would actually recommend 1 over 2- 1 is a much more fineness oriented game, and has/had a much, much stronger modding community
