So any news on the Restored Content for this game?

Hello everyone ; I'm currently playing the Original version of BR, the one that came with the purchase of the enhanced version.

In the folder 'C' Program Files (x86) where the game is installed to, there's a folder labeled "ScummVM".

Inside the folder is a Rar file labeled, 'scummvm-2.1.0-src'
I haven't opened this yet.
Do I need to ?

The original game seems to be running fine for me, so far.

Also wondering if anyone has played with the restored content, and if so -- how their game is running ?

I'm playing on a desktop PC Win. 10 64-bit Nvidia Graphics card.

The "-src" rar file is there because ScummVM is an open source project under the GPL-v2 (now v3) license, and thus a third party project/product that makes use of it, also has to make the source code publicly available (with any changes they potentially made, if any). It does not have to be packaged with the game but that's how this is handled by GOG (maybe Steam too(?)).

So, you don't have to unpack the rar file, but if you do, you'll find the source code files of the project for the specific version of ScummVM used to run the game (here 2.1.0).

As noted earlier in this thread, the restored content is a Work In Progress, and newer versions of ScummVM may include additional restored content. So, for the latest state of the Restored Content one should use the latest version of ScummVM (currently 2.8.1).

The Restored Content won't perform worse or better than the Original version of the game. But it is not as tested as the Original version and it's not guaranteed that saved games from the current versions will be compatible with future versions, since more changes are expected to be done in the engine code to faciliate the future restored content. However, the game should be perfectly playable from start to finish.

If you're playing Blade Runner for the first time, I'd recommend playing the original version first.

I dont know if this has been asked before somewhere, but is there a list of all the cut content that isnt implemented yet? I dont know the process of how you're doing things which is why I ask. Is there a list somewhere or are you discovering things in the code as you go?

There's always a chance I discover something I didn't notice somewhere in the code before, that would lead to untriggered code (which may be something small, like playing an animation, or something larger like a different case for a dialogue sequence or a story branch).

But I am keeping a thorough list to go through when restoring content --this is mainly an Excel document where I've planned out stuff to restore mostly based on unused spoken cues, but also on what I've observed so far from the code. And there's also a more chaotic TODO text file that I maintain, where there are tasks for Restored Content, Bugs to fix (or evaluate), and potential improvements more shuffled.

A quick list for future stuff, including content restoration exists on the ScummVM wiki here, under the Improvements section:
