I can't get the game to run at all.

I've tried D3D, and a few variations that are available in the initial setup dialog, as well as OpenGL, which my hardware supports quite well.
I'm trying to run the game with default settings with the exception of the resolution, which I set to:
Fullscreen
32bpp
1920x1200

When I launch the game, regardless of my configuration, I receive two dialogs:
First is produced by "SmartHeap Library", and states "MEM_RESIZE_FAILED".

Second dialog is produced by the MS C++ Runtime Library, and states that Blade.exe had "abnormal program termination".

I'm running Win7 64bit on an i7 with 64MB of RAM and a Radeon HD4870x2.

I appreciate any help. I'm getting sick of paying $5+ for games that don't work.
