Each time I start the game, no matter what settings I use, I get a SmartHeap Library error, displaying "MEM_RESIZE_FAILED" with OK and Cancel options. Pressing OK just loops the error, and canceling brings up another Visual C++ Runtime Library error and the game crashes.

I've tried running it on Admin + Win XP SP3 compatibility mode, but to no avail.

My specs are:
RAM: 4GB DDR3
CPU: Intel Core i5-430M, 2.27 GHz
GPU: AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5650, 1 GB VRAM
HDD: 500 GB, 5400 RPM, SATA
OS: Windows 7 Professional SP1 - 64-bit

Please send that error message along with your DxDIag file to our Support department. Thank you :D.
I am having the same exact issue. I tried running as an admin as well and have tried various compatibility settings to no avail. Drivers all up to date. I will send the error message after work. Got to go.

How are you guys running the game? Are you using the Start menu shortcut under GOG.com or are you running the executable directly? Have you used the configuration utility that comes with the game and is located under the GOG.com folder in your Start menu?

Just checking to make sure all bases are covered :D
Yeah, tried using the config utility, didn't make any difference.
I think the problem might be related to the RAM limit for 32-bit OS.
So it wouldn't be so much a graphical issue but more of a memory one.
There are too many setup options, not much working ones.
I manage to start game with rOpenGL(I change nothing but resolution) and DirectSound software emulation (or DirectSound 7+ software - Pan and Volume).
My system: windows 7 ultimate 64 bit 16 gb RAM and I have no RAM errors with this settings.
I have the same error!!! I tried everything: all the compatibility modes, all the in-the-launcher-setups, I tired to launch the game from the Start Menu, from the Desktop, from the Bin folder... No success... What should I do? I waited for this game for so long and I was so happy when it finally appeared ...

Please write to us via our support link and send in your DxDiag along with any screenshots of any and all error messages that you see. The more info we get the better the chances that we can fix what's ailing you. Thanks! :D
Screenies and DXDiag sent. Looking forward for a solution.
I sent everything. Waiting and hoping :)
Hello. I'm having the same problem, but I could get it to work. When the MEM_RESIZE_FAILED dialog appears, use the keys and select OK. The same message will appear, but if you press OK 3 times the game will run after that.

I can play the game this way using rOpenGL and nGlide. Without XP compatibility.

OS: Win7 32bit SP1
RAM: 4GB RAM DDR3
CPU: Q9300 @ 2.81GH
GPU: ATI HD4850 1GB.

I tried clicking 'okay' about 50 times hoping it would work but nothing.

I get the same error but only when i use nglide.
I have the same problem, no matter what configuracion, compatibility or security i tried, always crashes with same error message, i have the lastest drivers, and directx redist, of course y tried with opengl, but nothing changes.
