Heya,

I've got the retail version of the game (Collector's Edition).
Can I use the DLC from GOG with that version? In the DLC's requirements section, it says "Requires the base game Blackguards: Special Edition on GOG.com in order to play." Is that code for "you need the base game, and we'd like to buy it here", or does GOG's version of the DLC require specifically GOG's version of the base game?

Thanks. :)

GOG DLC needs the GOG version of the base game :)
Are you sure?
On facebook I got the response on my question
"got the collectors edition (Boxed Version) - Can I buy the DLC on GoG or do I have to buy it on Gamesrocket? The daedalic page isn't clear about that."

"our version of the DLC works with our version of Blackguards Special Edition. We hope that helps"

After that I asked directly at Daedalic. They answered:

"Das ist von unserer Seite so nicht vorgesehen, für die Retail bei GOG zu kaufen, sollte aber auch funktionieren."
Translation: It's not intended by us to buy the DLC for the retail at GoG, but it should work, too.

Yes, I know that response because I wrote it :)

Basically, if you buy the GOG version of Blackguards Special Edition, then the GOG version of the Untold Legends DLC will work. We cannot guarantee that our versions of either the DLC or the base game will work with versions from other distributors.

In short, if you have the base game from gamesrocket or any other store other than us, use their versions of the DLC in order to keep everything tidy. Please keep in mind that we make our own installers for the games we sell here and that's why we stress that we cannot offer any help if you try to install our version of the DLC to the box retail version of Blackguards.

Let me know if there's anything I need to clarify :)

Thanks, though that's unfortunate. :)
As I said, I bought the game at retail, where it's not that easy to get DLC. ;) And I'd thought I could avoid creating yet another account at yet another store (and throw my data at even more companies).
Anyway, thank you for the answer, although it's not what I expected to hear. :)

(And if someone did already try it and it worked, please post. :))

I just didn't want you spending money on something you possibly couldn't use :)

Doesn't the new 30 Day Money Back Guarantee work here?

It doesn't as it applies to our products only, we can't guarantee that our version of the DLC will work with versions of the game that come from other stores. This is why we have a disclaimer just above the price stating that the DLC bought on GOG needs the GOG version of the base game.

The 30 Day Money Back also applies to products of ours where you meet the requirements but we just can't make it work on your system. Using our version of the DLC on a non-GOG base game means that the requirements are not met due to reasons I stated in the above paragraph :) I do recommend reading the money back guarantee FAQ in case I missed anything. http://www.gog.com/support/website_help/money_back_guarantee
