Is it possible to make subtitles appear as the characters are speaking their gibberish and also to make the gibberish last longer?
Celeste is the only example that comes to mind right now. Here's a youtube video (dialogue starts at 0:33): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIXqmjYF4F4&t=33s
Does adjusting gibberish frequency in Biomutant achieve the effect seen in Celeste? It would be great if you link to a video where I can see and hear said configuration in action.

Will I miss important information and jokes if I disable the narrator voice or it will be still displayed as subtitles?
Achieving the effect described above means that I will probably have to disable the narrator, hence the question.

Do frequent interruptions happen only during the 2 hour tutorial or the gameplay keeps breaking immersion even later on?
I would like to know about the game flow as well. In playthroughs I saw numerous interruptions by unskippable cutscenes (for the lack of a better word) - like showing you stuff on the map and camera focusing on something or someone. For example, you get into a city and suddenly the camera zooms in and the game starts a dialogue with a NPC that's on the other side of the city square. This breaks immersion for me incredibly. In other games you can usually engage with NPCs at your own convenience. How does Biomutant fare in this regard?

Edit: Made it easier to read and made questions more clear.

I don't have loads of hours in yet but I'll throw my 2 cents in.

Narration wise I haven't adjusted anything but I believe you can change how often the gibberish is said (the things said while just wandering around) and I -think- if he talks during talking with NPCs. Subtitles can be turned on or off and auto-advancing the NPC convos can be turned on or manual.

For example I currently have subtitles on and manual skipping so I can click a button to advance quicker or slower and doing so will interrupt the narrator.

I won't lie, the start is a major slog. The tutorial section seemed to go on forever and the 2-3 evenings after work I couldn't decide whether to refund or not. I don't remember a lot of camera zooming personally but there is a lot of talking & interrupting as you mention.

However after the first few hrs it seems to open up fully with exploration and NPC interactions like any other game. And since I adjusted camera and combat settings to my liking and after I obtained my first decent gun I'm loving the game. It took a little while but now I feel like a badass fighting and enjoy wandering around to my hearts content!

Some conversations can still last a while but only happen when you initiate and are all 'mash the button' skippable.

I'm not the best at explaining things but hope that helps give an idea.

I got a good idea about the flow. Thanks for the elaborate reply.

As for the gibberish, I saw the settings online and there are videos that show off other narrator languages, just not the particular configuration I'm asking about. Hopefully someone got the idea to try this out.
If you are early in the story you are still unlocking things, but it'll open up after a while.

But for the narration, I have the opposite. I don't really mind the gibberish if it would be on the background and narration on top. Maybe the character could start a couple of words earlier and then narration follows. That would be optimal for me.

But the narrator... how the voice narrates... I kind of want to not follow any instructions. I already call my character "Stanley".

Is my edited and improved post still unclear? LMAO! I want to keep the gibberish as well, but I want to avoid listeing to both gibberish and narratior one after another.

What happens if you set gibberish frequency to the maximum in the settings?

Sorry. I did get it but I think the misunderstanding is how I wrote my answer. I think the fault is in me. I did understand that you want the gibberish, not necessarily the narrator. And the subtitles start when the gibberish starts.

The difference is, I don't really care for the gibberish. I prefer the narrator. But it's good that they make some noise on the background so I get the feeling that they are talking. I'll suspend my disbelief with the narrator. As long as he talks on top. I don't mind if there would be no subtitles.

Don't worry about that. All good.

I read that the subtitles start when the narrator speaks, so even if you turn his volume down, you still wait for the gibberish to end and then get the subtitles. It's just that it's silent then, because you disabled the narrator. In Celeste you can hear the characters doing their noises and see the subtitles at the same time and it's super tight. I just don't want to listen to both one after another.

It also appears that if you disable the narrator (speech) you can't hear the Light and Dark spirits speak as well... Which is... oof.

The news are reporting a huge upcoming update with narration fixes and neat stuff, but there's no official statement anywhere, so it might just be a rumor.

That would be good. I get what they were trying with the gibberish and narration artistically, but it doesn't really work after a while. After you have heard about 5 conversations like that, you get the point and this gibberish-narration-gibberish-narration is just too slow. Especially for a game that aims for speedy action combat.
Well I'm an idiot. I thought the gibberish setting was when the narrator said things out in the wild!

Anyway if you set the NPC dialogue to manual advance you can press the key/button to bring up subtitles right away and again to skip ahead. So no narrator plus manual advance would be the way to go.

If toning down the narrator stops the light/dark guys though...yea they are probably one of my favourite things in the game so far so that would suck a lot.
Switching to manual is not ideal either though. Still, thanks for checking!

From what I've seen in other places there are options to fine tune the narration, but they're all falling short somehow. Shadow Warrior 2 seems fun, but looks like waiting for the next big update is the way to go as far as buying the game goes.

You don't have to set it to manual. It works on auto advance as well.

Well damn guess I contributed absolutely nothing then! Lol. :)

Don't say that. It's a good idea. A workaround until we get an update that hopefully addresses this.

Especially because I had also been using this, but didn't think to mention it here. You did. I didn't.
