I have a Windows 7 (32bit) OS, an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 CPU, and a eVGA GeForce 8800GT videocard. When I first started the game, everything looked great, but when the game engine really kicked in, I started to have the visual glitches everyone report.
While turning off HW Vertex Processing fixed it, I'm curious as to what is that. Am I losing visual quality? I read in another thread that it supposedly orders the vertex processing to be done on the CPU, so: will my CPU (currently running at 3.6 GHz) be affected?
I just recently bought severeal GOG.com games, and this is one of the first I actually try to play.
Thanks in advance.

You don't loose anything in visual quality, it's just a matter of how the calculations are made either by the CPU (software mode) or by the GPU (hardware mode). In software mode your CPU works a little more than if vertex were processed by the graphic card but since you run a 3.6 GHZ CPU that doesn't really change anything. Your CPU is more than able to cope with the supplementary load as it is already way beyond the requirements for the game.

Thank you very much for the information.
Sometimes, with a lot of light (and shadows) the game will go at some crappy FPS, but oh well, it's not always, and at least is running very smooth most of the time.
Thanks!
Well BGE is a awesome game but admittedly the PC port is a bit sloppy.
