Is it possible that a deal can be made with Ubisoft to release Beyond Good and Evil HD to the PC? I ask this as I prefer to play the PC games with a controller.

IF -- and that's a huge if -- Ubi ever releases Beyond Good & Evil HD on the PC (it's not really up to GOG to talk them into doing that, GOG basically asks them to sell games that are already available on the PC), I'm betting the HD release would replace the standard one we have now, offering the original as an extra.

The exact same thing happened with Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD. The original game on GOG got replaced by the HD version and became an extra goodie to download. Also, owners of Stranger's Wrath got upgraded to HD for free.

Yeah, but you can't compare a generous, gamer-friendly publisher like Oddworld Inhabitants with the money-grubbing bastards at Ubi-Soft. ;)

Frankly there is Zero Chance any Ubisoft or EA game for that matter will appear here, if they occur on steam at all you still need to use Uplay or Origin to get game. GOG and we wont accept that.

Also anyone had issues getting Manual Download, I can't get that file to download.

Didn't we recently get Simcity 4 deluxe? That's an EA game

Simcity 4 Old 2003 game was released before Origin existed and never rereleased.
The HD "Rerelease" is a 2011 PS3 / XBox game if it does come to PC (Unlikely if not done already) it will be released on Origin.

With Ubisoft you can buy on Steam but just get Key for Uplay version.

So as the HD would be a post Origin release that is different than old pre origin games, it may even happen if Origin actually stops selling the game but why would they do that once on there.
Getting old games to work on modern machines means GOG can deal for "obsolete" games by fixing them for EA but until it's broken Origin will keep selling.

FWIW, the HD edition is on sale at PSN for $2 for the next week.

The original release on PC is pretty sketchy compatibility wise on modern hardware and OSes. Also it doesn't offer native 16:9 widescreen support nor Xinput gamepad support (i.e. Xbox 360 controller).

I honestly would buy a proper re-release on PC for 360 pad support alone. My current work-around solution of using the 3rd party app Xpadder isn't ideal.

Well darn. I was hoping there was a separate HD patch out there to apply to the game (like there is with Space Colony).

I didn't realize this game was UBISOFT! But hey, I guess this game was created and released long before their horrid DRM technology. Which is one of the reasons I refuse to buy Settlers 7 and Anno 2077, though I am a HUGE fan of the Settlers series. (huge fan)

Nice to know that there isn't much improvement in terms of graphical performance with the HD version that was released recently. My purchase feels justified either way lol.

Ubisoft patched the always on DRM out of Settlers 7 as far as I know. (I own it multiple times.) Though the game itself is still not very optimized.
