HI all
I'm having major problems with this game: as soon as I double click the icon to play, I get a window popping up telling me:"EAX not installed. Please install Creative EAX". Anyone know what this is, or where I can find it? I Googled it and it seems like some kind of audio software, but I can't find anywhere to download it, only the drivers - someone please help, I really want to play this game and don't want to have wasted money here.
Go to startmenu and find beyond good and evil in the gog folder and launch the beyond good and evil settings. Then go to the sound settings tab and uncheck the EAX reverb option.
I've got into the BGE folder and clicked on the SettingsApplication.exe file, but, ironically, the same message comes up, telling me Creative EAX is not installed! So I can't even adjust the settings...this is getting extremely frustrating. Thanks for your help, but any other ideas? I can't even access the settings part if the message just keeps coming up
If the game stores the setting in a file it should be possible to manually change it?
No config files in the beyond good and evil folder only the settings.exe thing. I would advise you contact gog support and give them as much detail as possible about your problem, also attach a dxdiag.
Hello. I'm having the exact same problem as this. I'll make a dxdiag at home and send it to support, but if someone knows the solution, it would be nice to tell us so we don't bother the tech people :)
I had this exact problem and found this thread, finding out there did not seem to be a known solution- very annoying. I tried downloading new nForce drivers (I have NVIDIA nForce audio) but this made no difference. More searching turned up a replacement .dll file from here:
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?eax
I installed this and the setup utility runs and I can get to the game start screen (too late here to try and play now, but I don't see why it would not work having got this far)
I am running Windows XP
Hi,
it is enough to reinstall the game without uninstalling it first. You won't lose any setting nor any saved game.

Did anyone ever solve this? I've been hitting my head against it for a while, and can't figure anything out...

I've uninstalled and reinstalled a couple times to no real effect.

Hey, this is an old post but I'd like to contribute if it can help some people :)
I had the same problem and solve it thanks to timbiggs' post. by the way thanks timbiggs!
I installed first BGE from gog, and then this : http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?eax
Then you go to SettingsApplication in your BGE file,
and you launch your game from there.
It worked for me (im running Seven)

asla:
I can confirm that reinstalling the game gets rid of the EAX message. This is a much better solution that downloading unknown files from dodgy websites that tell you to turn off your Anti-Virus Software.

Is it possible for a mod to mark asla's post as the solution, seeing as the OP doesn't seem to be around?

I was having this issue and un/reinstall wasn't working. What I ended up doing was copying the eax.dll from my gog version of Splinter Cell into the main BG&E folder (the one with the .exe) and it cleared up. I'm still having some graphical issues but I think I just need to tweak my settings.

This is the solution for me!
